Doctors are trying out heart transplants using computer-aided techniques. These might be costlier than the old kind of surgeries(OPTION D), but would also be cost-effective, as these transplants will be more accurate(OPTION B). Thus patients would have more chances of recovery(OPTION C) and the time taken for the surgery(OPTION A) would be reduced.
Which of the following need not be studied in order to evaluate the truth of the above argument?

• The time taken in the two kinds of surgeries.
• The accuracy of the two kinds of surgeries.
• The chances of recovery from both the surgeries.
• The cost involved in both the kinds of surgeries.
• The recovery time taken by the patient after the surgery.

Only option E is irrelevant as you can see above
I have boldfaced the relevant part with the concerned option.

Hope this helps...!!

Actually in problems such as- Assumption, what should be good in order to evaluate statement, one should avoid restatement of the premises, evidences given in the stem. The right chice must be something new, which fills in the gap!

Only E states something that is not mentioned in the argument. So there is no need to evaluate it. We have to evaluate all other statements mentioned in the argument.

DOc => HT using CAT
cost-effective but costly
1. Patient would have more chances of recovery
2. the time taken for the surgery would be reduced

=> what if no. of surgeries increased and in turn time taken will increase

should be B because we already know this from the premises : as these transplants will be more accurate
• The time taken in the two kinds of surgeries.
• The accuracy of the two kinds of surgeries.
• The chances of recovery from both the surgeries.
• The cost involved in both the kinds of surgeries.
• The recovery time taken by the patient after the surgery. :- E is not mentioned in premise but in conclusion, how do we know that recovery time taken by the patient after the surgery is less for surgery type 1 to type 2.

Choices (A), (B), (C) and (D) need to be studied to verify the claims made in the passage, but no mention has been made regarding the time taken for recovery being one of the factors under consideration for deciding the better process. Therefore, (E) is the right option.
