This type is indeed difficult and too time-consuming.
Although it seems to be comprehensible, it's hard to apply under time pressure, especially if you are non-native :)

Frankly, this question took me 2:55 because of its long wordings. Anyway, when you see this type of question on screen, you're doing GOOD job mate. Because this type question only appears to select good test takers.

It was time consuming to read everything. I the chose D quiten fast, because the strike is LIKELY and the marathon is PROBABLE. In any answer it was a definite WILL. So D fits best.
