(A) If fewer and fewer schools are sponsoring intramural sports programs now than a decade ago, Erika’s position is undermined.-Erika talks about the importance of teamwork and how no one in the team wants to let their team mates down. If fewer schools sponsor such events, the change will have no impact on Erika's statement.
(B) If high schools and universities provide financial assistance for the purchase of sports equipment, Nichol’s assertion about the importance of winning is weakened.- Nichol only talks about a premium on winning; it is not established that the premium has a financial assistance angle.
(C) If teamwork is essential to success in intramural competitive sports, Erika’s position and Nichol’s position are not necessarily incompatible.- This could be true since either way the team is working together for either a specific goal to achieve a premium on winning or to ensure that no one lets their team mates down.
(D) Since the argument is one about motivation, it should be possible to resolve the issue by taking a survey of deans at schools that have intramural sports programs.-the deans may not be able to state the motivation of the students taking part.

The hidden secret is that team members of a team don't like to lose, either for a premium or not to let team members down. Both statements are based on the importance of team work.
