Hey Guys
I am getting back to study for GMAT after almost 6 months.
My target is to get the high score that I had initially aimed for. With 710 I was quite happy but now am targeting institutes out of India, and need a high score.
My quant wasn't good at 48, I really want to bring it to 50 atleast if not 51!
Please suggest how to go about it.
I remember committing some very silly mistakes in 710 score. This time I hope I don't do those mistakes again!
Getting back to studies after a gap and disappointments is tough, I am looking for the motivation that I got from the forum an year back!
Time frame - 2 months.
Looking forward to your thoughts!!
Thanks a ton!
First of all, 48 is an excellent Quant score by any standard.
It might look like it isn't, because it's "only" a 70th percentile Quant score. But you can think of the raw scores as your grade on a college exam. Getting a 48 is like getting an A on an exam. The percentile is 'low', because a lot of other people got an A+ on the same exam (by getting 50s or 51s). But you still got an A, and an A is still an objectively strong score, even if a lot of other people did even better.
You certainly have more room to improve your Verbal than your Quant. Unless there's some particular reason you want a stellar quant score (applying to a program that really prioritizes quant; compensating for a weak quant background), then improving your Verbal is probably the fastest, easiest way to get a higher overall score.
If you have a good reason to need an even higher Quant score, though, I'd recommend picking up the MPrep Advanced Quant book. Don't just do the practice problems; read the chapters as well. They go over a lot of techniques that don't become useful until you're already at a very high level.
