That is self explanatory. If your university can furnish a letter that the mode of instruction was in English then you don't need to take it.
But not all B schools are so giving. So I would like to advice, If you haven't taken GMAT yet, schedule TOEFL one month after you take GMAT. One month is more than enough and to me TOEFL iBT seemed easier to prepare for than IELTS.

In my view TOEFL iBT>100 is a cakewalk for Indians.

The situation is very dramatic right now.
I have my GMAT score and working on my essays. Deadlines start from mid Jan.

School that I am targetting have listed TOEFL/IELTS requirements as mentioned in the earlier post.
I am getting mixed reviews if its needed or not.

TOEFL test date availability is a crunch, hence not sure whether it is imperative to take TOEFL.

I understand your situation. You have to schedule such tests in advance. In addition results are not provided on the spot and it takes a long wait, unlike GMAT.

Right now it is better to get a letter from your university. I have also got such letter from my university, haven't used it though. I am sending my scores to schools by default to avoid any confusion. If you are doubtful that your University will provide you one, dont worry about that. I think it is quite a normal request that student pursuing higher studies make and most of the universities do provide such letters. If you are applying for NUS then such letter should be good enough.

If it becomes a sticky point in your application, in most of the cases school officials will get back to you.

hey,
since i saw there was a discussion regarding IELTS and toefl...i have a question in mind.
I had appeared for IELTS in November 2015, that means it is valid for 2 yrs....November 2016. And I would be applying to b-schools now, for fall 2017 admissions....would this IELTS be valid? I mean for those b schools that have their application deadlines before November.
