Dear Ross Alumni

I'm considering to apply Ross MBA full time this year, but my TOEFL is only 98, while, in Michigan Ross website, it strongly recommends a score of 100 or higher.
I'm afraid that I can't retake TOEFL to get 100 in time since the R2 deadline is coming. Is the TOEFL score of less than 100 is the barrier for my application?

Hey Mohater,

Thanks for helping out! I fall short of my gmat target score and currently stands at 680(Q49, V34). However my previous education, gpa and work experience are strong. Do you recommend me to apply? Since I haven't provided any specifics I can send you my resume for quick review and then take this discussion further. Thanks again!

This is another one of those "use your optional essay if you think it will help"

You can see an older thread here with general info on toefl:
toefl-score-requirements-for-most-popular-schools-80110.html

If you can sell yourself in your essays, this toefl score shouldn't hurt you much. Also, if during an interview your english skills are viewed as meeting expectations for an international student, this also will help.

Remember, your application is a whole picture. It's only when it comes down to decision making are individual pieces looked at and compared with candidates.

You could also take the toefl again to score higher to use as point in a follow up letter if you got on the wait list, to show your commitment to bettering yourself as an applicant.

Good luck!

That GMAT is band of the admit profile at Ross:

https://michiganross.umich.edu/programs/ ... ss-profile

Your verbal is the hindering part of that score. If you have strong essays that make you stand out as a candidate, this will help to show that your verbal skills are within the caliber of the Ross expectations.

Good luck!

Hi,

I am applying to Ross with career goals in operation. If I don't apply to Tauber, will it be questionable?

Nope, plenty of non-Tauber people do Ops and many Tauber people don't end up in an Ops role after graduation.

Mohater, really cool you're doing this!

Second, there is absolutely no requirement to do Tauber to go into ops. Tauber tends to be higher % in ops but that's mostly self selecting. I know a lot of non-tauber who are in ops or SC.
