Guys - Does the profile evaluation hurt the admission chances? I agree it can go either way.. But I am more worried about the downside than the upside....

Can anyone please share there experience regarding profile evaluation?

no it doesn’t. The Rotman adcom is upfront about your areas of improvement (eg score) and they form a continuous engagement with the candidates through their application process. Few folks who got admitted last year and a couple of them who didn’t had one common feedback about the Rotman adcom.. upfront and engaging. Hence, go for it! More info in the session I conducted last year here : https://youtu.be/al4UkQdVwVM

They arrange calls with members of the admissions team where you can speak on your profile.

I was given an opportunity to schedule a call with them but the thing is they cancelled and I went in without having to assess my profile and still got in.

So, it has nothing to do with making an impression as long as you know that your profile is good to go!

Thanks All for responding!

They don't provide profile evaluation explicitly, but rather they provide you a chance to meet the Adcoms I guess.

If they invite you to a meet-up, this implies that they are interested in your profile. If not, they will tell you the reason and encourage you to work on your weak points and apply in the next years.

I applied last year and was rejected without an interview. Do you mean I can reach out to them seeking a call with someone in the admissions team to speak on my profile? I do not meet their minimum GPA requirement (for India), so that's my estimate on why I was rejected outright. (GMAT-730, 4.5 years of work experience across startups and a global business research organization).

Spike factor essay requires you to demonstrate the Spike factor itself and not just the work.

I only kept one para dedicated to work.
Everything else was personal / other activities

It is highly recommended. At the end of the day, you pay for application. Ad com members are usually honest.

Hi all, I’m currently preparing for my GMAT, and I intend to take it during the last week of August. I want to apply to a few colleges in Canada and US during the first round itself. And I see the deadline for most of the colleges is around first week of October. Which leaves me with one month to prepare for all the Why MBA’ stuff, LORs and SOPs. My concern is ’is that one month enough?’, considering I wish to apply to at least 6 colleges, Rotman , Schulich , UBC Sauder and another three in USA.

It sure is.
I think the early action deadline of Rotman is in August.

But I'm sure you'll be able to manage everything in the timeline.

Good luck
