statement 1: x=2y
not sufficient as 2 variables x and y and 1 equation
if x=1/2, then y=1
but if x=1 or -1 or 0, y=2, -2, 0 and hence not sufficient
statement 2: x=2
no information about y.
clearly, not sufficient
combining statement 1 and 2 we get
x=2y, x=2
or 2= 2y or y=1 and hence sufficient
therefore, C.
