1) For all integer values of n, even or odd, 2n – 3 is odd. For example, if n = 4, 2n – 3 = 2(4) – 3= 5 and if n = 5, 2n – 3 = 2(5) – 3 = 7. Not sufficient.
2) Since 3n + 1 is even, 3n is odd and, therefore, n is odd. Therefore n + 5 is even. Sufficient.
Answer B Statement (2) alone is sufficient.

n should be odd or zero!
Statement:
(1) 2n – 3 is odd
even(n can be anything as it is multiplied by 2:always even) - odd
insufficient

n can't be zero
n can only be odd to satisfy this statement.
