Alright the test is coming up soon. I must confess that last few weeks have been a struggle. It seems 2 months is my burn cycle.

Took another practice test today. I got a 710. (Q47,V41). While it's not much of an improvement since May, it's still an improvement. I'll be hitting the books again and my next post will probably be after I take the test.

I am quite disappointed to report that I ended up with a 680 on test day(Q44,V39).

I'm going to retake. I know when I took the test I had two major issues.
1. I blanked out on some of the word problem types in quant. I'm a lot rustier there than I realized.
2. I finish the Verbal section with 30 minutes to spare so my timing is terrible. I know some of the mistakes I made must have been careless.

So these are the two things I'm going to focus on. I haven't scheduled a retake. I'm going to study until I consistently get 740 to 760 on practice CATs. At that point I'll feel safe if I have another 40 point drop.

Smart move not scheduling a retake immediately. When I took my first test (710) I thought it was a fluke and scheduled a retake immediately. I ended up with a 710 again. From personal experience, each 10 points above 700 is incrementally harder. I felt like I spent more time getting from 710 to 740 than from 630 (my diagnostic) to 710.

Hii guys,

If anyone can explain me the reason behind my scores it will be indeed helpful.
GMat prep exam 2: Score 650 V31 Q 48
Verbal incorrect question numbers: 2,3,9,11,15,18,20,22,23,25,27,31,34,35,36,38,41 Total:17
Quant incorrect question numbers: 1,4,9,11,13,14,17,18,27,31,34,36,37 Total: 13
GMAT prep exam 3: Score 640 V30 Q47
Verbal incorrect question numbers: 1,2,4,9,21,22,26,28,30,34,36,37,39,41 Total: 14
Quant incorrect question numbers: 3,10,11,,13,15,16,18,19,22,26,27,29,30,34,36 Total: 15

Can someone please explain the reason that even though the number of incorrect questions in my verbal has come down in 3rd exam but my score has also come down from 31 to 30. Also, out of initial 20 questions i got 7 wrong and got V31 and when i got 4 wrong, i got V30.
I have my exam within the next two weeks, please help and tell me what can I do to improve from here on

I can't suggest this enough, to cram toward the end. While many people study for months and months, the studying over the last couple weeks is the most important. This is when you solidify everything and make sure to remember all of the key points.

I've been wondering about this myself. Some people say you should take it easy the last two weeks because you "won't learn anything new." My entire academic career has told me differently though. Studying at the last minute could make the difference between an entire letter grade.

I took the slow it down route the first time. I'm thinking about changing it up this next time around.

Another fun note. I purchased the advanced score report. It was eye opening because the parts I thought I was struggling with the most were not the worst subjects for me.

I left the test thinking I should focus on sentence correction and word problems.

The score report is telling me to focus on arithmetic and reading comprehension. I will be changing my study habits immediately. Anyone else used an advanced score report yet?
