Just done with my first attempt of official exam.
Scored a 640 (Q47 V31 IR 3).
My cold mock score was 690 a year back, and my official mock scores ranged from 690 to 730.
Scores in ExpertsGlobal mock ranged from 690(V31) to 750(Q50 V42).
And my IR score was 6-8 previously, this time I got a 3.
I have tried egmat before, didn't seem to work. should I get a private tutor instead as my verbal scores are not consistent.
Is it possible to get 720+ in one month of preparation as I am trying to meet R1 and R2 deadlines of US programs.

I'm sorry to hear that Test Day didn't go as well as planned. When these types of score drops occur, the two likely "causes" involve either something that was unrealistic during practice or something that was surprising (or not accounted for) on Test Day. It's also interesting that this Official Score is similar to the CAT/mock Scores that you posted about in early March (in regards to your earlier studies). By extension, it's possible that you developed some 'bad habits' during your earlier studies that are keeping you from scoring higher. Since it's been approximately 3 months since we last discussed your studies, before we discuss any of those potential issues, it would help if you could provide a bit more information on how you've been studying and your goals:
1) What type of study routine have you been following over the last 3 months? How many hours do you typically study each week?
2) What study materials have you used over the course of ALL of your studies? What “brands” of CATs/mocks have you used?
3) On what dates (or approximate dates) did you take EACH of your CATs/mocks and how did you score on EACH (including the Quant and Verbal Scaled Scores for EACH)?
4) Are you still planning to apply for Round 1? What is the minimum GMAT Score that you would apply with?
If you took your Official GMAT at a Test Center, then you might also choose to purchase the Enhanced Score Report. While the ESR doesn’t provide a lot of information, there are usually a few data points that we can use to define what went wrong on Test Day (and what you should work on to score higher). If you purchase the ESR, then I'll be happy to analyze it for you.

Regarding how to move forward you could of course consider a tutor or you could check out other self-study courses. Also, since verbal seems to be an issue for you, I have a helpful article that you can check out:
