Q: Will scoring a high GMAT, cover up a the low gpa?

Michelle: I would never go so far as to say that it would "cover up" a low GPA, but it can certainly help offset it. Keep in mind there are other factors, such as just how low the GPA is, just how high the GMAT is, and which school you’re applying to.

Q: How important is a good balance between Quant and Verbal scores on the GMAT?

Michelle: Great question! Candidates do need to show strength in both areas. No secret that the Q is important, but I’ve seen several low V scores hold back candidates. This is especially important to keep in mind for international candidates. I advise ALL candidates to evaluate where they are struggling and focus on that area, because you truly need a good score on both sides.
They will look at both your verbal and your quant. You might be able to make up for the low quant if you have a highly quant background, such as your job and UG degree. Depends on which schools you apply to, too.
