Re: What are my chances to get into Emory or Georgetown [#permalink]
Hi there! Thanks for sharing your profile. I would agree with the recommendation above regarding your GMAT - there is still some time to squeeze in another round of studying if you're up for it! even 20-30 points would boost your chances. Also, what about your involvement? Your goals? Why do you think you're a fit at these particular schools? Any other achievements that make you unique? These will all play into your candidacy and should certainly be weaved into your application through essays, resume, and LORs. Best of luck!

Thanks for getting back to me.

Yes, I think I will take the GMAT twice more before applying.

What score would you ponder be ideal in order to apply to those schools? 660 to 670?

I am being realistic as I doubt that I could crack 700 - having issues with verbal during the test. (Surprisingly, I do relatively well when I study - just can't bring it together)

Dude, just get as high as you can. For the schools you listed here, even a 690 might be enough (if the rest of your profile is awesome). But don't sell yourself short. With LOTS of studying, you can probably also break a 700! And it makes a WORLD of difference!

Wutang,
Thanks for the info. While another 30 points would certainly help your candidacy, what are your goals and what do you do outside of work that ties to those goals?

How old are you?

Where did you go for undergrad? Were your grades flat or improving? (Hopefully they were not trending in the other direction!)

Also how would you rate yourself relative to peers at work?

Based on answers to the above, you have a decent chance at those schools if your story is strong enough and possibly a pretty good chance.

Feel free to reach out directly if you'd rather not answer on the forum or if you want to talk further about getting into those programs. Scott@personalmbacoach.com

Wutang,

I would say your chances are good if you improve your GMAT.

But there are other aspects of your profile that need to be expressed better:

1) What industry/function?
2) What did you do at the boutique firm? Why did you change companies?
3) What kind of product are you working on? What have you done differently relative to your peers?
4) Extra curriculars/community service?
5) ST and LT career goals? How do they tie up to your background and experience?

Best wishes,
Karthik
