Here 7/12 of 240 is 7/12 * 240 = 7*20 = 140

Now 45 Percent of 240 we have to find out.

50% of 140 is 70 and 5% is 7. Therefore 45% is 70 -7 = 63.

Option A is the answer.

Hi All,

We're asked for 45 percent of 7/12 of 240. Since we're multiplying 3 values, we can perform the necessary calculations in a number of different ways (depending on how we choose to 'format' the numbers - as percents, fractions or decimals).

45% can be written as 9/20... so the calculation would become....

(9/20)(7/12)(240)

Notice how 20x12 = 240, so the denominator of this calculation will 'cancel out' the 240. This leaves us with 9x7 = 63

Final Answer:

GMAT assassins aren't born, they're made,

Wondering why estimation isn't suggested here. I solved it by using 1/2 (rounded up) * 1/2 (rounded down) * 240 = ~60. My answer is hence, A) 63
