I got this one!
3 1/3 = 3*3 + 1 all over 3
1 1/3 = 3*1 + 1 all over 3

So that's 10/3 vs 4/3

10 vs 4 or 5 vs 2

C!

3 1/3 = 10/3 and 1 1/3 = 4/3

10/3/4/3 = 10/4 = 5/2

Which of the following equals the ratio of 3 $$\frac{1}{3}$$to 1 $$\frac{1}{3}$$?

3$$\frac{1}{3}$$ = $$\frac{10}{3}$$
1 $$\frac{1}{3}$$ = $$\frac{4}{3}$$
Required ratio = (10/3) / (4/3) = $$\frac{10}{4}$$ = $$\frac{5}{2}$$

Its a very simple question....
[m]3\frac{1}{3} = 10/3
1\frac{1}{3} = 4/3

Ratio = (10/3)/(4/3) = 5/2

Sorry guys but I miss the theoretical part of the problem. Why does NOT 3 1/3 to 1 1/3 simply mean 3*1/3 : 1*1/3 ? the result would then be different ... than C.

Because it's not $$3*\frac{1}{3}$$ but rather a mixed fraction $$3 \frac{1}{3}$$, which equals to $$3 \frac{1}{3}=\frac{10}{3}$$.

Which of the following equals the ratio of $$3 \frac{1}{3}$$ to $$1 \frac{1}{3}$$?

(A) 1:3
(B) 2:5
(C) 5:2
(D) 3:1
(E) 40:9

$$3 \frac{1}{3}=\frac{10}{3}$$;

$$1 \frac{1}{3}=\frac{4}{3}$$.

$$\frac{(\frac{10}{3})}{(\frac{4}{3})}=\frac{10}{3}*\frac{3}{4}=\frac{10}{4}=\frac{5}{2}$$.

Hope it'c clear.

The ratio of 3 1/3 to 1 1/3 is:

(3 1/3)/(1 1/3) = (10/3)/(4/3) = (10/3) x (¾) = 30/12 = 5/2 = 5 : 2
