How are you guys handling recommendations for these schools? Are you letting them know about them even though you may not end up applying for schools in R2?

I'll be applying to two schools in round 2. Probably MIT and U of Washington if I don't get into any schools I applied to in round 1 (applied to 5 schools in the top 15 category). Washington doesn't seem to have name recognition as alot of the other schools, but looking at the employment report it seems alumni do quite well for themselves. Compares very favorably to schools like UCLA and Berkeley. Its seems much more west coast centric.

Admissions seems like a crap shoot, so I'm hoping one of my R1 comes through by dec :) .

I'm letting my recommenders know that I may need them to write some recs for R2 and that I'll let them know early December if they need to submit anymore.

For me it really depends on what happens in R1. If I get into UCLA or Chicago, then I'm most likely done. If I get into Texas only, then I will probably apply to Kellogg and/or Columbia RD. Maybe NYU as well. If I don't get into UCLA, Chicago, or Texas, then I'll probably apply to Emory, Duke, or Darden and pray for the best.

In my case I had my recommenders write all my recommendations up front. They were cool with that. I think once they did one, it took them about 20 minutes or so to do the next one.

Thanks! Yeah... I can make the MIT/Stanford R1 deadlines but I am choosing to wait until R2. I am going to do all five schools in R2.

You don't need to put nearly 1000 words in those. I know Wharton's had those questions and I think it was more a maximum limit than a suggested WC.
