i have read ayn rand's FH ...my point is this.......if you are sure to win and sure to decline then by participating you are hurting people's chances more... for someone at the bottom rung who has a dire need for the coveted prize loses out....its not a rant but just my take......

I don't see how declining a prize one would decrease any one else's chances - can you explain?
If you have read the Fountainhead, you should know that it is not about the collective.... it is all about the individual.

You also, realize that you are making a pretty big assumption and speculating that the prize will be declined. You are also assuming things such as "sure to win"

I didn't mean for my comment to take on such a spin :)

I only implied that Bunuel seems to be much more interested in helping the forum than anything else :).

And thanks, bb, and intellijat for the kind words.

Bunuel it is. I like the fact that he just does not respond while we continue debating as to whether he will accept a 'yet to be announced' prize or not..

decling a prize will affect others chance. for instance, i've voted for bunuel. But i would very much like to vote for whiplash. but i get just one vote. So the distribution gets screwed.

But as BB said, it's a preeeeety big assumption that the prize will be declined.

+1 for Bunuel. Declining/Accepting is his choice and I would respect his decision.

many did that exactly that a few weeks ago and enabled many others who needed the course, consulting, or even an iPad to get it.

To illustrate BB's words: I have declined 3 prizes few weeks ago, I did not need the prep courses. Few weeks before I had chated with my gmatclub-friend cano, who told me that he would prefer to win a prep course, which he needed a lot, rather that the trip (why I need a trip to Harvard if they will ding me?). I hope that I and other people like me helped cano and other guys to win the desired prize.
Forget to say, I dreamed about admission consultancy or Ipad. :)

Bunuel humbly won the popular vote (perhaps not shocking having seen how much goodwill he has generated) - he has 27 Kudos points. He has won, there are others as well - many who work and help making this community better every day and keep this forum well organized (or at least try to).

Bunuel - Congrats for winning and many thanks for your good work here. :-D

Thanks a ton bb for organizing this massive competition. You have been truly outstanding in organizing this competition. Thanks to Gurpreet and all others (who had been behind the stage) in getting this competition up and running. You have been awesome in organizing, getting the prizes from the sponsors and getting the contest setup.

Thanks to all the sponsors for being so generous. So I guess the curtain will finally come down on the "Win a School Visit of Your Dreams" contest.

Eagerly awaiting Bunuel to share his photo and thoughts on winning the member's choice prize (and his secret toward total Math domination). :-D
