Looks like this is the case... the interview scheduling system on Yale's internal website goes out to about the middle of Feb.... they could add more dates tho.

Having gone through the invite process in multiple ways now, I must say I prefer either a mid-decision deadline or multiple interview invite waves.

Hey! I'm applying to Yale SOM MBA in time for final deadline -Round 3- Anyone know if any slots are still available by final round for international applicants? I noticed Yale SOM has a pretty low yield rate compared to other schools- despite its small class size-not sure if this has any impact on place numbers available.

Any info would be greatly appreciated!!

Poesy
I think Yale is good at keeping applicants posted - but those prints and newsletters I received after the submission made me even more agitated.

This was a big issue when I applied; glad to see they are still causing mild heart attacks for all the incoming people. 8-)

HAHA!

What were the main pitfalls associated with applying to Yale?
I noticed that it seems to be a lot lower in the rankings compared to the reputation it seems to command over here in the UK!
Is it a case of Oxford/Cambridge syndrome where the MBA programme may not be as highly ranked as it should be, but still you have exposure to the awesome alumni network/reputation of the uni as a whole?

Anyone have any idea of what Yale Som's reputation is like with IB's over in the UK?

thx!

Actually, Yale d-day for consortium applicants (both rounds) is on Feb 25, 2011.

Take a look at this, posted a while back: not many takers for Yale, why?

I was going to add a bunch of commentary to this post, but just deleted it all, because it's mostly been covered in the thread linked above. Suffice it to say, I believe SOMers (including myself - soon) will feel no need to be defensive about their rankings in the near future. The upward trajectory of the school is one of the most inspiring things about it.

As for IB in the UK specifically, I'm not quite sure. I know that BarCap Americas is a top employer for Yale grads, but don't know if that translates over to Barclay's UK offices. I assume it doesn't hurt. I also know that aside from Non-Profit & Social Enterprise, Yale is also known to be a great Finance school, for whatever that's worth, though the employment stats are pretty diverse.

Good luck!

Thats awesome!
Thanks for reposting the link!!
I kinda got my heart set on yale- Just worried about applying in round 3!
Also applying to LBS, Oxford, have offer from IE Madrid, NYU,Columbia, and deciding on another US school -Thinking Dartmouth/Northwestern/Chicago/Wharton...

Any suggestions which to go for? -Unfortunately I'm applying for final round in all US schools- so i'm not too sure if there will be any places left!
Any info on final round acceptance rates would be greatly appreciated!

when i received my yale invite, it said this:

"To arrange your appointment, please click here to view our online scheduler. If you applied to Yale SOM through the Consortium for Study in Graduate Management, please schedule your admissions interview prior to Friday, February 10. If you schedule after this date, you may delay your admissions decision."

i think it's safe to say that they're trying to knock out consortium folks by mid february so they can push decisions out by february 24th in regards to the consortium fellowship.

i also think it safe to assume that even if you don't receive an invite before this date, it doesn't necessarily mean you won't get an admit. i think these are dates with regards to consortium , but not overall admissions.

but that's my take on the whole scenario. obviously the only people who REALLY know are the admissions folks

I was wondering the same thing. Maybe there was some truth to the notion that the early invites went to mostly consortium and pre-deadline submitters.

Hope so! I really enjoyed my campus visit and hope to interview there soon. Cmon Yale, more invites!

Anyone stayed at La Quinta Inn, New Haven? How far is it from campus? Do I need to bring a full set of pajamas complete with footies to keep the bed bugs from biting?
