The trains are running into New Haven. I took the train this morning from New York into New Haven because I had an interview scheduled for Tuesday morning, but Yale is closed tomorrow. You will most likely be unaffected since your interview is 14th. I talked to the admissions office and they mentioned that it's uncertain if the campus will be open on Wednesday. So I have to decide whether I should extend my stay in New Haven and change my flight back to California..

To provide a little bit of context - we got nearly 3 feet of snow during Nemo, and even with over 100 crews working around the clock, streets haven't been fully plowed, and cleanup is ongoing. The mayor has instituted travel and parking bans throughout most of downtown, and has asked the University to hold off on anyone coming in except for essential staff. I'd say about 1/2 of businesses are open, (including my local liquor store, thank goodness!), but it's a bit slow going. They've cancelled classes for tomorrow, and I can honestly say that it's the first time I've seen most of the students NOT jumping up and down in joy. That said - I've been really impressed by the amount and quality of communication from the University, the City, and SOM administration.

Would you mind elaborating a bit on that statement - why is this the first time you've seen the students NOT joyful to see class cancelled whereas they were before?
Some of my initial assumptions:
- when class was cancelled last time, it was at a time in the school year where students felt overburdened with work, assignments, and recruiting and so they happily welcomed the free time
- in the spring semester, there are more interesting electives to take, so students actually look forward to class now
- students felt that this week's cancellation of class was unwarranted
If I made this feel like a CR question haha my apologies - just curious.
