anyone else received an invitation to interview or know if it is going on in waves?

This is a little bit late, but after reading a certain blog post today, I thought I'd come here to publicly welcome @machichi and @skm to the SOM family! Congrats on being the first 2 GMATClubbers to matriculate. Looking forward to seeing you on campus soon. Geez, R2 here, all quiet on the Western Front. Wondering at this point if the denial will be on the admissions webpage or in an e-mail..

Chin up, it looks like they've been sending out the invites in waves so there's definitely still hope. We are far, far from the deadline at this point. You never know what could happen... Though, to answer your question, I believe all denial/waitlist decisions are via email. Looks like round 1 admits got calls, as well. Good luck, hope you get an invite soon

Received interview invite about an hour ago. E-mail has information to book an on campus interview and goes on to say that if you cannot make it to New Haven, contact us and they will try to make alternate arrangements. Is this what all the letters have been saying? If so, is Yale SOM open to Skype interviews or discouraged? Was it easy to schedule the Skype interview? Appreciate the feedback.

My perspective (US R1 admit / will be attending!): SOM is totally open to Skype interviews. I did a Skype interview because getting up to the NE was too difficult given my work schedule and the interview timeframe (it actually had to be reschedule twice due to Sandy and they were SUPER accommodating). I was glad I had previously visited campus (and encourage a visit if possible if you have not been yet) because that is what really sold me and enabled me to fully explain "why SOM was the place for me." But, again the adcom seems to be supportive of Skype interviews if it is the right thing to do for your situation! Best of luck!

Is a denial sent out immediately after review of the application or only on the decision date??

I received interviews at CBS, Fuqua (admitted), Johnson, Darden and Anderson and nothing yet from Yale. I thought my Yale essays were best too. Weird stuff, this admissions process.

For round 1, it was only on the decision date.

I can echo that. I'm from Europe and asked for an off-campus interview and was promptly offered a date & time for a Skype interview. I was interviewed by a 2nd year student, same as everyone else, and it was a pleasant experience. Don't worry about it.
