recently completed one of the official GMAT Practice Exams, and it has been the most valuable preparation resource I've used so far.
Pros
Most accurate representation of the real exam. The question style, interface, and adaptive algorithm feel significantly different from most third-party mock tests.
Excellent difficulty progression. The adaptive nature of the test rewards consistency and exposes weaknesses realistically.
High-quality explanations. Reviewing mistakes after the test helps identify conceptual gaps instead of just showing the correct answer.
Realistic pacing experience. The mock replicates the pressure of managing time across all three sections, making it ideal for building test-day strategy.
Cons
The number of official mocks is limited, so they should be used strategically rather than early in preparation.
The detailed analytics could be more comprehensive, especially for identifying recurring topic-level weaknesses.
Additional mock exams require payment, which may not fit every student's budget.
My Experience
Compared with several third-party practice tests, I found the official mock to be much more representative of the actual GMAT. The questions emphasized reasoning and decision-making over lengthy calculations, and the scoring felt more consistent with the adaptive nature of the exam.
My performance on this mock clearly highlighted my strengths in Quant and Verbal while showing Data Insights as the area that needs the most improvement. That alone made the mock extremely valuable because it gave me a focused study plan instead of simply providing a score.
Verdict
If you're preparing for the GMAT, the Official Practice Exams are the benchmark against which every other resource should be measured. I would recommend saving them until you're close to your test date so you can obtain the most accurate estimate of your readiness.
