A and B are in a line to purchase tickets. How many people are in the line?

(1) There are 15 people behind A and 15 people in front of B.
(2) There are 5 people between A and B.

Statement 1 ) There are 15 people behind A and 15 people in front of B.

Dear IanStewart Sir,
Can you please check whether I am making a mistake anywhere.
I got C as the answer well as OA is marked as E. Thank you.

I'm not sure why you've declared one case impossible when you used both Statements. The answer is E because we don't know if A is in front of B in line, or if A is behind B in line. So you could have this line, where each dot is a person:

• • • • • • • • • A • • • • • B • • • • • • • • •

and then there are five people between A and B, 15 behind A (including B), and 15 ahead of B (including A), or you could have this line

• • • • • • • • • • • • • • • B • • • • • A • • • • • • • • • • • • • • •

and again there are five people between A and B, 15 behind A, and 15 ahead of B. But this line is much longer than the first one, so the answer is E.

Right. Thank you Sir, Silly of me to goof up. Don't know why I thought there cannot be 15 people behind A with includes B.
