A creative and intellectual presence of the first order, Jack Kerouac was acclaimed as a literary innovator soon after the release of his experimental novel On the Road.

A. Jack Kerouac was acclaimed as - CORRECT
B. Jack Kerouac was acclaimed to being as - Usage of BEING is incorrect. Hence Incorrect.
C. Jack Kerouac is acclaimed as - Past Tense should be used since the author is talking about an event that happened in past. Hence Incorrect.
D. Jack Kerouac’s acclaim was in being - Modified Subject "Jeck Kerouac" should be used after comma. Moreover, this option changes the original intent altogether. Hence Incorrect.
E. Jack Kerouac’s acclaim is as - Modified Subject "Jeck Kerouac" should be used after comma. Moreover, this option changes the original intent altogether. Hence Incorrect.

A. Jack Kerouac was acclaimed as - the verb WAS correct states the later event "after the release of his experimental novel On the Road" (Correct)
B. Jack Kerouac was acclaimed to being as - Incorrect as it uses "acclaimed to being as"
C. Jack Kerouac is acclaimed as - it uses IS, which is wrong
D. Jack Kerouac’s acclaim was in being - Incorrect, as "A creative and intellectual presence of the first order" cannot refer to a possessive noun
E. Jack Kerouac’s acclaim is as
- Incorrect, same as D
