As length and breadth is 12 feet. Hence the area of wall is (12)^2 =144, but since the area of floor is also asked the total will be 144+144=288.
Area of sqaure is (2)^2=4
288/4=72
Therefore, D is the answer

Since each side of hall is equal => hall is cubical in shape
(Room) L=B=H=12
(Tile) L=2 , B=2

Area to be covered = Area (Floor + One Wall) = L x B + L x H = 12x12 + 12x12 = 144x2
Area of tile = 2x2 =4
No. of tiles required = 2x144/4 = 72

Ans (D) 72

"with its each side length equal to 12 ft"
I guess this means that each side is 12 ft

one wall has 12x12ft=144sq.ft
one floor has 12x12ft=144sq.ft
one tile has 2x2ft=4sq.ft
total tiles: 288/4=72 units

Step 1: Only the floor and one wall have to be tiled. So, imagine the wall unfold to the floor. Now, the area to be tiled is 12 x 24 ft rectangle.
Step 2: Tile size is 2 x 2 ft. Hence, 12/2 =6 tiles along shorter side and 24/2 = 12 tiles along longer side.
Step 3: Total number of tiles = 6*12 = 72

D , Imo

Floor area -- 12 * 12 = 144
area of one wall = 12 * 12 = 144

so Total area = 2* 144 ..
unit Tile area = 2 * 2

No of tiles required = Total area / unit Tile area = 2 * 144 / 2*2 = 72
Hence D

Surface area of floor and one wall=2*12*12=288

Surface area of each tile=2*2=4

Number of tiles required = 288/4=72

Answer is (D)
