A three digit number, Z, has the product of its digits as 48. what is the units digit of Z?
(1) The number, Z, is odd.
(2) The hundreds digit of Z is 8
(1) The number, Z, is odd.
(2) The hundreds digit of Z is 8
(1) Means the units digit is 1,3,5,7,9: 48=2*2*2*2*3, so the only odd units digit possible are 1 or 3. Not sufficient
(2) Could be 861, 816, 823, 832 etc. Not sufficient
(1) + (2) Could still be 861 or 823

St1: The number, Z, is odd.
48*1 = 6*8*1 or 8*6*1 --> Possible values are 681 and 861
16*3 = 4*4*3 or 2*8*3 or 8*2*3 --> Possible values are 443, 283 and 823
St1 alone is not sufficient
St2: The hundreds digit of Z is 8 --> We have 100 values of 3 digit integers having hundreds digit as 8 --> Not sufficient
Combining St1 and St2 --> We still have two possible values --> 861 and 823. Hence not sufficient
Answer: E
