My grandpa used to often say - “becoming a good scholar isn’t as hard as becoming a good person”, subtly hinting that I did less progress in the latter, or perhaps in both. I knew that he was joking, but I also knew that his jokes had only a grain of joke.

I remember publicly criticizing, at the start of my preparation, some of daagh’s posts when I noticed that they contradicted the posts of other experts. I did so in an effort to understand why he thinks the way he thinks. Oftentimes, we didn’t reach a consensus. And every such time, he used to say - “Jon you are welcome to think so”. I saw that as my victory in the debates. However, I should admit that - that actually was the humbleness he had, but I probably missed. He was both a good scholar and a good person. I wish he knew that he taught not just gmat, but also “modesty”.

Pranithare
I took his private mentorship in June.He taught me just for me couple of days , but he fell sick so he didn't teach me for a month.Even though his health was not supporting , he tried to teach for 15 mins in the morning and 15 mins in the evening .His health was deteriorating but he tried very hard to teach concepts. He was going for dialysis weekly twice in july ,even in that condition he was suggesting few people regarding Awa in forums.Till the end he tried his best to help the students. He is very great person.May his soul rest in peace.

Pranithare , it’s heart-wrenching to know that illness didn’t let daag finish what he started. I am sure he would have trained you at the level that very few could. I wish I could help finish what he started. That would be my humble tribute to daag.

Please, feel free to pm me about anything you need for your preparation. I would be happy to provide any prep material I have and share my experience, even though not at daag’s level, God bless him.

This is so sad!

When I was studying for GMAT I used to frequent SC forums the most. Whenever I needed help with a question, I would always look for his responses (even though I had other expert responses). He was always concise and often explained how one should approach the question in an exam setting. This is something I loved because we all know how important time management is for GMAT.

I had the opportunity to chat with him briefly when I was looking for a tutor to help me with my GMAT preparations. I was working with a time constraint then. He told me that he would need more time to ensure that he can help me get to my target score. Unfortunately we didn't end up working together, but I really appreciated his honesty. He genuinely cared.

Even though he is no more, his legacy will live on through GMATClub! Millions of GMAT aspirants have learned from his answers, are learning from his answers right now, and will learn from his answers in the years to come. Thank you daagh.

This is a huge loss for our community. @Daagh's explanations have helped and will continue to help countless aspirants like me.
It would be almost poetic, if this hadn't been such sad and shocking news, that @Daagh's contributions to GMATClub will make sure he continues to live on.
May his soul rest in peace. R.I.P.

This is another shock to me in this year probably. I always remember his name daagh as it sounds like a mark or spot to me. His responses were quite friendly and well mentioned. May his soul rest in peace.

I just drew this as a tribute but dont know if this looks like him.

I have had wonderful experience reading through Daagh's explanations in the SC forum. What a gem, you could take his word for a Gospel.
His explanations are truly remarkable, precise and detailed.

I have my condolences towards the family and though I know him through GMAT Club I have great admiration and respect for his personality.
You are in good hands Daagh for now you do not need to visit Dialysis center and you can be in peace.

RIP Sir..

Gratitude,

So sad that I am hearing about this now, after almost a month. I truly loved the way Narendran sir used to explain the concepts. I still remember how he used to explain the SC concepts with South Indian examples. Never felt like I was learning from a teacher. Always felt as if I was learning from my grandfather.
Rest in peace sir. _/\_

Dear GMAT Club Members,

It is with a heavy heart and deep regret that I have to share the news that one of the most humble and helpful members of GMAT Club, daagh, has left this world; passed away in October 2020. It is a sad day on GMAT Club. I have only received one brief message from his daughter (via PM of his account) who has informed me about his passing in October 2020. I have tried to reach her with further questions but without success. My last communication with Daagh was in August when, as usual, I was asking him about some help with AWA forum and he mentioned that he was getting treatment and would not be available for about a month and asked to ping him after that.... never did I think that would be the last time I would speak with Narendran. Death is a cruel thing. Rest in peace Daagh. We all miss you and the memory of you will always live on GMAT Club.

Daagh joined GMAT Club in 2007 and left a legacy of over 5,000 posts and 25,000 kudos. He was often a part of the very exclusive Top 10 members of the Month group. Daagh served as a GMAT Club moderator for several years and helped numerous test-takers. He has spent some of his time doing one of the hardest and most thankless jobs - moderating the AWA forum and answering essay questions. I still remember speaking to him for the first time after he became a moderator. I asked him about his application plans. He chuckled at me and said - "I am Old BB, I am not applying to business school". He was laughing at my naivite. He was in his 60's. If you have a story or a memorable experience with Daagh, please consider sharing it in this tribute topic.

P.S. If anyone has any other ideas on how to honor Daagh, feel free to suggest them here or PM me.
Thank you.
BB.
