This is very sad news.

Mr. Narendran Thulsiram ( daagh ), one of the finest English experts in the forum.
Thank you for putting a name to the daagh.

I can't add anything that GMAT club members who knew him better than I did have not already mentioned. I can only say that though we had our disagreements, I admired the astounding breadth of his knowledge and the amount of time and effort he selflessly put in.

As some other members have pointed out, he had very strong opinions. I did, however, manage finally to get an edit out of him after sending him a PM pointing out a (small) mistake he'd made. For some reason, that still makes me smile. :)

His explanations were awesome. He will be missed dearly. It was a great loss. I, too, am a fond of his many explanations. Interacted via PM once.. Writing this with moist eyes.
RIP

Whenever I used to be confused with the official SC explanation, I used to come to gmatclub to see Daagh's explanation for the same question. Undoubtedly, it used to be the clearest, easiest, and most logical explanation that you could find.

Dear Narendran (Daagh) Sir, you have made the lives of so many GMAT students better with all your efforts. We are all deeply indebted to you. Thank you so much for all your efforts. Hope you rest in peace, wherever you are.

I'm sure that students who have used gmatclub so far (and the thousands more who will use in the future), will definitely remember your name for the rest of their lives.

RIP Daagh Sir.

A very sad news. I didn't have a chance to speak with Daagh in person but I can imagine him through his posts on the forum. He was truly very humble and helpful, and will always be remembered. RIP SIR. We all will miss you.

Very sad to know this. Having read several of his explanations on SC questions, I usually tend to pick old questions in which he had posted explanations. The way he takes a stand on complex, debatable topics and puts forward his answers with crystal clarity is just amazing.

I have always wondered why his profile is named as "Daagh". I see his real name is "Narendra". Does anyone have any idea? I am really curious to know this. On contrary to the literal meaning of his name in Hindi, his contributions here would have surely been foundational for thousands of GMAT/GRE applicants over the last decade. :please:

Dear GMAT Club Members,

It is with a heavy heart and deep regret that I have to share the news that one of the most humble and helpful members of GMAT Club, daagh, has left this world; passed away in October 2020. It is a sad day on GMAT Club. I have only received one brief message from his daughter (via PM of his account) who has informed me about his passing in October 2020. I have tried to reach her with further questions but without success. My last communication with Daagh was in August when, as usual, I was asking him about some help with AWA forum and he mentioned that he was getting treatment and would not be available for about a month and asked to ping him after that.... never did I think that would be the last time I would speak with Narendran. Death is a cruel thing. Rest in peace Daagh. We all miss you and the memory of you will always live on GMAT Club.

Daagh joined GMAT Club in 2007 and left a legacy of over 5,000 posts and 25,000 kudos. He was often a part of the very exclusive Top 10 members of the Month group. Daagh served as a GMAT Club moderator for several years and helped numerous test-takers. He has spent some of his time doing one of the hardest and most thankless jobs - moderating the AWA forum and answering essay questions. I still remember speaking to him for the first time after he became a moderator. I asked him about his application plans. He chuckled at me and said - "I am Old BB, I am not applying to business school". He was laughing at my naivite. He was in his 60's. If you have a story or a memorable experience with Daagh, please consider sharing it in this tribute topic.

P.S. If anyone has any other ideas on how to honor Daagh, feel free to suggest them here or PM me.
Thank you.
BB.

I never thought my first ever post on the platform (after joining in 2019) would be shrouded in sadness as I'm only finding out now about the unfortunate news from reading an explanation for a QOTD :(

Not all heroes wear capes and this adage applies fully to Narendran daagh. 2020 has taken a lot, but his contributions to this community will live on forever as aspiring students will continue to benefit from the vast knowledge he was kind to share with us on this platform.

Thank you for everything Narendran!

Thoughts and prayers go out to his friends and family :please:

Daagh's explanations and his prompt responses on queries were very helpful. He simplified many concepts for us.

I was searching for Daagh's contact details to start his private mentorship and found out he is no more. This is such a sad news.

God bless his soul.
