Here is a topic about scholarship negotiation. I would do it Mon or Tue.

Just to chime in, I wouldn’t personally hold out much hope for Wharton matching any scholarship amount. I have yet to hear about anyone who was successful. They have a very “we don’t negotiate with terrorists” attitude to scholarship negotiations.

It seems you're right as I had a call with admissions and the scholarship negotiation is really a non-starter at Wharton. Decisions, decisions......still weighing all the pros and cons by engaging both schools. Need to make a well-informed decision. So far I'm kind of leaning toward Wharton because of their entrepreneurship push and vast network in Africa. The full ride at Darden is very enticing though.

Congrats. I faced a somewhat similar choice with Columbia giving me around 40% scholarship for tuition and got into Wharton with no money. I agree with the previous post that this is ultimately a very person decision. I hear excellent things about Darden despite how it might stand up against the Wharton brand. I also went back to Wharton and they were a hard no on negotiating for scholarship dollars.

I ultimately deferred and as life changed over the past year am likely going to attend Columbia EMBA because stepping out of the workforce likely won't add much value to my path. But what I did find in the last year of reflection is that if you are clear on your purpose for an MBA (one mentor suggested you should be able to write in on a post-it) then you can be more clear on the choice. For what it's worth, if prestige isn't the driving factor and since entrepreneurship doesn't guarantee big post MBA salary I'd go Darden - there is a lot to be said for financial freedom and the ability to take bigger risks post-MBA without having to worry about loans.
