Just received invitation to R2 scholarship weekend.

But I didn't apply to Park Fellowship.

Based on previous comments, my impression is that the scholarship weekend is identify the recipients of the Park Fellowship, with those not selected being offered regular scholarships (perhaps on the higher end of the spectrum).

It also seems that named scholarships are NOT awarded during the scholarship weekend: "A separate selection process to award named scholarships is conducted during the summer or fall semester. These named awards replace merit awards already received, and do not provide additional funds to the recipient."

Anyone have any insight?

edit: I wouldn't qualify for any of the scholarships mentioned online (Forte, Consortium, etc.)

Can any R1 admit who attended scholarship weekend give a report on how it went? Very curious...

Very interesting experience.

Events: Dinner, Team Building Activities (low ropes course), and a Case.

For the case, which was last, we were split up into 7 or 8 teams of 4. Out of those 4 in each team, 2 people were chosen (not randomly) to present and answer questions for the group. The other two had no opportunity to present. I was one of those people that did not present, therefore I am assuming I was judged based on dinner (at which I talked mostly to second year Parks that were at my table) and team building activities (think moving a hula hoop as a group with just index fingers).

Apparently based on my hula hoop moving skills, I was not chosen as a finalist for the scholarship. In fact, even going to the effort to fly to Ithaca, rent a car, etc etc would not pay off as I was offered 20k, the same as people got without attending the weekend. They might have picked the people that they wanted in Ithaca next year, but they probably also just ticked off 12-14 of their best candidates. Not the way I would approach it if I was them.

I write this more as a help for people that go to scholarship weekend in round 2 just so they know what they are getting into. The people that got the Park offers I am sure thought the weekend was great though, so it all depends on perspective.

When you say 20k, is that per year? Or total? - trying to gauge what the low end scholarship award is for people attending?

I believe it's $20k total.

From an email regarding the upcoming scholarship weekend: "Our scholarship awards range from $20,000 ($5,000/semester) to full tuition"

Actually that is somewhat incorrect. I know a guy from class of 2016 who got 10K total (5K each year).

Yeah - but the 10K total probably wasn't awarded after the R1 scholarship weekend, which is what the email is in reference to.

I got to know that the tentative calendar will be out in another week or so. But this is for AMBA, not sure if the same applies to 2 yr MBAs as well. You may well check with the student services representatives, or you could see last year's calender which is still available on the site. Btw, did any of you manage to get student NET ID? (for logging in housing, intranet etc.) Any idea when it is sent across?

I'm not sure about the Net ID, but it appears that last year applicants received them in April based on posts.
Do you have the link for last year's calendar for AMBA? Also, if anyone is still looking for a male roommate starting May, pm me.

I received my "gift" via fed ex of the padfolio along with my letter. Was there a binder with information that was sent separately or is the leather padfolio what was meant by binder.

Exciting stuff either way!

Has anyone received an invite to the scholarship weekend for R2 Consortium applicants? I assume these will go out around the R3 acceptances?

Also, has anyone who applied through the Consortium in R2 either receive a Consortium Scholarship notification or receive their scholarship package yet?

Fellow applicants,

I would like you to know that we have a new forum for MBA debriefs where admitted members can share their admission experience.

I request the admitted students to spare some time and post their admission experience in the forum and help the other applicants. Applicants could discuss with the admitted students to learn from their experiences.

Here is the forum link: https://gmatclub.com/forum/share-your-application-experience-332/

Cheers,
