Plato is a famous ancient philosopher and has more than one constructions. Author is trying to compare plato’s philosophical constructions with those of other ancient philosophers.
So, am I supposed to read about Plato?
GMAT doesn't use standard country names, artist names in CR.
What if in some question they give a random artist?
Are you sure about that?
Btw, this is SC we are not talking about and not CR.
There have been many instances wherein names of famous authors have been used in official GMAT questions
For eg. have a look at these official questions.
https://gmatclub.com/forum/emily-dickin ... 10142.html Who is Emily Dickinson? She's a famous American poet.
https://gmatclub.com/forum/bengal-born- ... 34342.htmlWho is Rabindranath Tagore? he is a philosopher too. Also, in this question, 'India' has been used
Of course, GMAT doesn't expect you to know about Plato, although he is one of the greatest philosophers in history, but then, by understanding what the author is trying to convey, you can derive that a philosopher's work is not limited to a single theory or unit.
Nonetheless, I'm not vouching for the question either. It may be flawed in many ways. that being said, one must stick to the official GMAT questions for practice and maximum learning. there are more than 100,000 questions out there and not every question is perfect or close to GMAT like questions. Some are of good quality, some are of average and some are poor.
This question is sourced from Time4GMAT and I have posted an Official explanation as well. Thank you
