Submitted round 2 application! Now comes the waiting...
Hey Shkrem,
Most of the us are waiting for close to two and half months my dear friend. Welcome to the club. You are the lucky round two applicant UCLA is not giving any preference to the round 1 folks unlike other schools
Thanks, Prodizy

Fellow India from R1 as well. I had almost given up hope since I had not received an interview call yet..
Could you kindly tell me more about what this "preference to R1" you are talking about?
Generally we apply to schools of our choice in R1. So there is a very high chance that we would take the offer up, if offered admission. Schools know this and they give admission decisions irrespective of R2. But UCLA seems to admit rockstar applicants early in the round 1 and keep the other R1ers till all R2 applications are in. This is a good approach to reduce the interview load and admit the best candidates, but the downside to it is that R1 applicants like us are kept in a waiting mode for a long time.

Wow! that's new to me... had I known this, I might have pushed back till R2 to submit an app to Anderson. Well too late now I guess...
The waiting is suffering... When will Anderson offer interviews? Any insider Infor ?

Not sure if this helps, but I submitted my R1 application on 10/22 and received the invite 10/28. I think my timeline was unusually fast, but thought I'd share the info for what it's worth.
anderson is asking for my original degree certificate in native language. have other candidates submitted theirs? I am just concerned that it is the original and is irreplaceable. anderson says that they will return it back to me. I was wondering if any other student has had similar experience?

Everyone who is invited to the interview has to send the originals. I think it is their way of testing whether a candidate is serious about Anderson or not. Can you not ask your alma matter to get another copy of the certificate?
I know my school will not issue me another original degree certificate. When I spoke to Anderson admissions they told me that they will take a photocopy of it and mail the original back to me using UPS tracking. Has anybody received their original degree back from them? I guess my question is, do I need to be concerned about them misplacing/losing my original degree?

I do not have personal experience about this. You can PM some of the admitted students by looking at the roll call in the admitted students thread. Personally, I feel that UCLA would not stick to this practice if there were any misplacing instances.

I can trust UCLA and its AdCom with originals, but can NEVER trust the Postal Services in India. The Delhi IGI Airport have misplaced SO many of my packages in the past ~2 years I cannot even begin to tell you - things like Rakhi, Reddit Secret Santa gifts...

Sorry to hear that. I never had any issue with Indian Postal Service. Anyway, UCLA will send back the originals through UPS tracking... not the Indian ones.

Yeah, but international packages are first intercepted by Delhi IGI Customs people. That's where the problem lies... Anyway. Let's not get too far ahead of ourselves.. I just submitted my application on 7th Jan (AND, with a typo!).
Guys, any interview invites to indian candidates sent out lately? isnt it like getting too late with the Jan 28th decision deadline looming so close?
Really seems late!!! Can't opt out to be optimistic here ...

Guys, let's be hopeful. I am sure some of us will get the invites. UCLA just received the round 2 applications. I think they will consolidate all the apps and send the invites soon(hopefully to some R1ers too).
