Received an invite too! Very pleasantly surprised to see it come this early, but looks like will I be in LA late January!
(I submitted mine on December 30th, for those wondering)

Just an observation:

The applications submitted close to the deadline were reviewed first and the invites were sent...

I submitted on 1st Jan, got the generic mail yesterday...

So they are following the LIFO .....

Is it that those interviewed with get their results along with the Round 1 deadline (28 Jan) ?

Not necessarily. I saw from another forum that someone who also got an interview invite today submitted his/her application in mid-December.

This is just my two cents.
But I think they do a quick overview of all the applications and invite the people they really want (Super Stars) for an interview. Before doing a second round of in depth reviews and see who they want to interview. (This is done in each round.)
I think the best way to check this would be to see if the people that got offered $$ in the first round had all been invited to an interview before the generic email went out (during R1).

For R1 peeps who did not get interview invites yet, does your application still say "Submitted" or does it say complete?

R1 applicant here, yet to receive interview invite.
Mine says submitted as well.

Congrats to all the applicants invited to interview!

Did you receive the invitations in your inbox during the day or do they send them in bulk close to 5pm PST?

If it's the latter that might prevent me from refreshing my inbox every 2 seconds....

:)

Total wild guess, but they may be using a screen to focus on the superstar candidates (completed applications + high GMAT + strong GPA + 4-6 years of experience) first, and then reaching out to others after reviewing their application more thoroughly. I would think this would be easy to do at the outset. But again, my total guess.

I also haven't heard from anyone as of yet. :D Good luck everyone!

I'm sure we're not the only ones. Just need to keep playing the waiting game.

Where in SEA are you based?

I agree with this. I submitted my R1 application last minute, and got an invite two and a half days later. It seemed most people who got immediate invites were domestic applicants with above average GMAT scores. I'm certain they looked at my gmat score, brand name company I worked at, and quality of my undergrad institution, without reading anything else about my application.

Also, most of the people who got an early acceptance in December were people who got scholarships (I think only one on this board DIDNT get a fellowship).
