MSU Broad MBA Interview Questions and Tips

MSU Broad MBA interviews – what is the admissions committee looking for?
The 21-month Full-time MBA Program at the Broad College of Business has one of the most diverse student population—in terms of ethnicity, gender, national origin, and professional experience. The program has just around 100 students entering the Full-Time MBA degree program each fall, and has an extensive admission criterion for selecting the best among the large pool of applicants. MSU Broad MBA interview questions therefore are quite ‘broad-ranged’ (no pun intended) too. Expect to answer questions on specific challenges you have faed, your approach to certain situations, and your choice of career. Also expect your interviewer to touch upon non-academic and non-professional aspects of your profile, such as interests outside work, key challenges you have faced, your background and exposure to multi-cultural work environments, and of course, your ambitions in life..MBA interview tips

Ross MBA essays 2016: A Brief Analysis

The Michigan Ross MBA essays have changed. While most top business schools either revamp their essay sets from year to year, or leave them unchanged, Michigan Ross has gone with a third approach – it has modified the topics a bit, and changed (reduced) the word limits associated with each essay. While the changes to the Ross MBA essays 2016 are few, they are highly significant, and would involve a very different approach from those applying to the program. Applicants approaching this essay will need to do some hard thinking, as most professionals applying to top MBA programs think more along the lines of how their work or profession has transformed them (the MBA is, after all, a professional degree) than activities outside it.
Yet, Ross is very clear in now communicating that they are looking for leaders who make a positive difference in the world. The key elements here would not just be what one has done, but the factors that drove one to do it, and the impact it had..Ross MBA essays 2016: A Brief Analysis

Study in Europe : GyanOne Interviews HEC Paris student

Amrit Mann, a BITS Pilani engineer, now an HEC Paris student reveals the most sought after answers by Indian applicants intending to Study at Top business schools in Europe. Amrit has been an absolute pleasure to work with and to interact with. GyanOne caught up with him, whIle he is in the last leg of his Master’s at HEC Paris. He spoke about his experience of study in Europe, and how the HEC experience has helped him grow. The most exciting part for me is, in a way, representing your country on a big stage. A B-school has a lot going on and if you are good at something, it shows and you are recognised for it. Another interesting aspect is that your opinions on various topics (business or cultural) are constantly challenged and that expands your horizon. My experience has been excellent, and I would highly recommend that other Indians and even other nationalities study in Europe, and also work here later..GyanOne Interviews HEC Paris student

NYU Stern MBA Admit with a 650 GMAT Score

An NYU Stern MBA Admit with a 650 GMAT ? This might look more like fiction than fact, but wait till you hear of the applicant’s achievements. He not only works for Amazon, one of the world’s leading technology firms, but is also a scholarship winner, a Columbia post-graduate in software, and an SAT teacher for high-school kids in New York City. Yet, a 650 GMAT is, after all, a 650 GMAT. Here is Aniket Phatak’s story of how he overcame his barriers and secured an admit to the NYU Stern Executive MBA program. Aniket is a very successful professional by any measure. He works for Audible, one of Amazon’s subsidiaries (focused on audiobooks), and has received accolades for his academics, his work in the community, and his contribution to Audible.
At Audible, Aniket is in the SDE (Software Development Engineer) role – a prestigious and difficult to attain position with the engineering team with a low success rate of applicants. In spite of these technology accomplishments, however, Aniket decided to pursue an MBA..NYU Stern MBA Admit with a 650 GMAT Score

Indian Entrepreneur Makes it to Stanford GSB, Rejects MIT

What is the first picture that comes to mind when you hear the word ‘sapling’? Perhaps that of a small plant, being nurtured to growth. The growth part is spot on, but in this article, sapling refers not to a plant, but to a company founded by a very dynamic entrepreneur – Swetha GB. Swetha has travelled the world, added tremendous value to clients through SAP consulting, and then came back to India to found her own venture, or should we say to nurture her own SAPling. This is Swetha’s story, and the story of how she made it to two top programs at MIT and Stanford GSB, a story of the relevance of the MBA for entrepreneurs, and also one on how Stanford GST appreciates both entrepreneurship and the Indian experience..Indian Entrepreneur Makes it to Stanford GSB, Rejects MIT

From Software Testing to Kellogg MBA: A Success Story

Working with GyanOne for her Kellogg MBA admission application, Tania demonstrated just why she had achieved heights in her career so soon. She had plenty of stories to discuss, and plenty of points to seek feedback on. This is a sure sign of a serious MBA applicant – he/she comes prepared to the process, and leverages the consultant’s experience well. Tania’s main point of concern was that her profile could have been seen as being too technical, and therefore not aligned to an MBA at this point. She worked, reworked, and sought feedback on the elements she was putting across, ensuring that her career goals were crystal clear, and that her journey was well understood by Kellogg.
Kellogg’s second essay on inspiring growth (in sync with the school’s new theme) asked Tania for key points in her life when she had grown, and this is where Tania’s personal passions as well as her professional growth really stood out..From Software Testing to Kellogg MBA: A Success Story

Why did an Amazon Professional Choose Kellogg MBA?

Persistence, passion, and purpose. These are generally said to be the 3 P’s of success. And yet, few people follow them, in spite of many knowing that they matter. Tania Bhattacharya is one such exceptional professional who has used these principles to convert decent opportunities to outstanding ones. At every step, Tania’s persistence, passion, and purpose have led her to make much more of each opportunity than anyone else in her position would have been able to do. This is her story to Kellogg MBA, with lessons that everyone can learn. While many software engineers dream of development or product management jobs at the big boys of IT – Google, Microsoft, and Facebook – Tania defied the trend here too. She took up a role in software testing, and her passion, purpose, and perseverance led her to great heights here too..Why did an Amazon Professional Choose Kellogg MBA?

Why did this Indian Reject a Ross MBA Admit?

The MBA Admissions essays are often looked at in one of two ways by applicants. Some look at them as just a formality to be completed, while others see them as the entire scope of the application. As is usual, the truth lies somewhere in between.
MBA Admissions essays matter tremendously, and are the only avenue applicants have, before the interview, to talk about their candidature, their potential, and their reasoning for various career decisions in detail.
At the same time, as we will discuss below, the essays are not the end of the process either. The interview is an equally critical part of the process..Why did this Indian Reject a Ross MBA Admit?

GMAT or GRE for MBA Admissions? The Debate Gets More Interesting

Should you take the GMAT or the GRE for MBA applications? This is a question that applicants often ask themselves, and others. While it has been a matter of debate since top schools started accepting GRE scores in addition to GMAT scores, recent data on average GRE scores released by top business schools makes it clear that the field is not even for students taking either exam. Yes, you read that right. Applicants using GRE scores seem to be at an advantage, at least as of now. The debate over the GMAT v/s the GRE for MBA applications has traditionally centred on the notion that business schools somehow prefer the GMAT over the GRE. Up until 5-6 years ago, few business schools accepted GRE scores. Today, however, almost all schools do..GMAT or GRE for MBA Admissions?

Entrepreneurship At Duke Fuqua MBA for a Star Cruise Mariner

Duke Fuqua is counted among the US top-10 B-schools across rankings. However, over time, Fuqua has not quite developed the reputation for enabling entrepreneurs that a lot of other schools such as Stanford and MIT have [here’s proof from US News]. That may be entirely because Fuqua hasn’t quite promoted itself in this domain as much as other schools have. Entrepreneurship at Fuqua is not just alive and kicking, but world leading. Almost every top B-school today highlights its community and claims that it is a closely knit one. At Fuqua, this goes well beyond just saying, though. The school really focuses on its community in a way that few other schools do.
Whether in class, in projects, in clubs, or even when undergoing international experiences as part of the program, Fuqua peers, seniors, alumni, and staff are intricately involved..Entrepreneurship At Duke Fuqua MBA for a Star Cruise Mariner
