Hi All,

I studied for GMAT for ~5 months and while my mock scores were mostly between 690-730 in the last 1 month, I gave the GMAT yesterday and scored a dismal 640 (Q46 V32).

Material referred to for GMAT prep-
- OG
- Took class room coaching from Princeton Review which was sub-standard
- Veritas Question bank, miscellaneous 700-800 questions
- Skimmed through Manhattan SC

Mocks taken-
- 15 free mocks from Experts Global
- 5 mocks from Princeton Review
- 2 GMAT Prep tests (Score 700, 710)

I am pretty dejected but scoring in the 700s is a compulsion for me to get my dream college. I plan to re-take the GMAT in December.

Decided Plan of Action for re-taking the GMAT
- Take SC online course from E-GMAT, Quant online course from Maths Revolution. Still haven’t zeroed in the class for CR and RC.
- Give GMATClub mocks. Zero in on other mock series to take.
- Practice with questions on GMATClub

Would request you to comment if this seems like a suitable strategy, also suggest best CR and RC online courses and good mock series to take.

I would like to tell that I was fit and fine during the GMAT and apart from the fact that I started worrying about how I am performing and what score I’ll get, there was no problem in the centre or the exam. I do realised that I really need to pull up my socks and start from the concept building, especially for verbal.

Thanks a ton!

Hi prkohli,

In order to increase the 640(Q46,V32) - you should first order the ESR
Once you have an ESR it will easier to understand what you real pitfalls are?
The experts on this forum will be able to help you with improving the score
(based on your weak areas)

If you were to ask me these are some generic posts in the forum which
should help you bridge this gap and get your target score

My best bet will be increase the Quant score from the current level to Q50
This is a post which best describes how to make this jump :

For Verbal improvement(though it make take longer), please follow the steps given in this post :
https://gmatclub.com/forum/how-to-impro ... 42361.html

Hope that helps you!

The first step is diagnosing what do you have problem with: is it lack of understanding of concept which it seems in your case is not?
Or application of the concept which it seems in your case is?
I have the same problem with Qaunt though the stress took me over.
All i can say is practice with the right materials, for the Verbal only and only official materials and try to understand it very well.
For the Quant it should also be official materials and deeply understanding those concept.
As you can see in my profile, i had problem with Verbal but through hard work and practice i raised my verbal to 40 and even beyond, had it not been the Quant that ruined me in the first section of the exam, i should have scored in the lower 700. I think in three months, you score is easily achievable.
