IMO B,

The conclusion is that govt withdraws funding intentionally to effect censorship.

B talks of the withdrawal of such funding in this case to be a matter of routine exercise rather than an intentional one. Thus it weakens the conclusion.

hi argha ,

how you got that it is weakening.

IMO it is supporting.

(B) “TPYD” magazine was only one of many publications that lost government funding last year.==>it says TPYD is the ONLY magazine that lost government funding ..so clearly this suggest that government did that intentionally.
hence it supports.

Hi blueseas,

I did not understand what you meant by this(transition from red to green).

Please clarify.

(B) “TPYD” magazine was only one of many publications that lost government funding last year.==>it says TPYD is the ONLY magazine that lost government funding ..so clearly this suggest that government did that intentionally.

What I understand is that it is one among many publications that lost govt funding.

I dont think I am missing out anything

“TPYD” magazine was only one of many publications that lost government funding last year.==>this means there were many of them and TPYD was the only one ,which lost the government funding.

“TPYD” magazine was one of many publications that lost government funding last year.===>this means there were many publications that lost government funding and TPYD was one of them.

the word ONLY plays the key role.

hope i made clear.

What I understand is:
Premise: Government stop funding TPYD magazine after it published an article to reveal inability of the government
Conclusion: Government did so because it wanted to prevent criticism

Option E said "many political forces try to discredit the government deliberately", which gives another cause of "why government stop funding TPYD magazine". And another cause can weak the original cause presented the stimulus.
That is: Why government stop funding TPYD magazine? ----Not because government wanted to prevent criticism, but because TPYD magazine discredited the government deliberately.

So I don't know why E is wrong? Can any expert help? Thanks in advance
