I'm new to the forum, so excuse me if this question has been addressed before. I applied R2 last year, interviewed and was then waitlisted. Reapplied this year ED on 10/05, with reccs submitted a week later.

Does anyone know what the process is for reapps and interviews? Can reapps be admitted w/o a new interview never/sometimes/always?

I'm not sure, but I think every admitted candidate needs to be interviewed regardless of whether the candidate is a reapplicant since goals and rationale for MBA may change.

Fellow waitlisted J-Termers. Anyone come across useful strategies?

It's been about a week since i've been waitlisted and i have:

1. Emailed adcom about an update in my job scope, and briefly reiterated why mba/why cbs/st and lt goals. Just received an email from adcom confirming the info and thanking me for the update.

2. Contacted my interviewer and he happily called up adcom for another nudge.

3. Sent in a 4th (yes 4th since im a reapplicant!) letter of rec, this time addressing what i saw as slight weakness in my app (before my startup i worked in corp fin and asked some who had experience in my quant finance skills)

I think I preettttttyyy much done everything one can do for waitlist processes, without annoying adcom.

Any opinions/suggestions?

Just got dinged. Disappointing but I expected it from the start especially after seeing all the incredible profiles that got dinged here. Reasons for the ding? There are plenty to choose from: too old, low GPA, no EC, no brand name work ex.

Good luck to the other applicants. I'll add my info to the spreadsheet now.

some have -- check the first page. Most people applied within a few days of the ED deadline and very few have received an invite thus far, so I wouldn't sweat it.

Dinged yesterday by Columbia. I am a bit shocked but surprisingly, I've
been taking it OK. I decided to prematurely end my MBA journey for
this year. I am going to pick it up next year for a few reasons:

1) Columbia is my top choice and I found it to be the best fit for me.
If the best fit finds me unfit, then chances are that so will the
other schools. I am not willing to give them that chance.
2) I will have more time to prepare my reapplication and will take the
time to do better research for the next one year.
3) I will use this time to improve my profile and will make sure that
I am the first ED applicant next year.

Hmmm.

I wonder if they may have abandoned their usual calling of the applicants because the applicant volume shot up since September. Sit tight. I got my call on a Monday, so that may happen. So, enjoy the weekend and halloween.

It looks like that..i hope i wont get a ding prior to visiting the school next week (quite lucky for everyone living in the East, its quite a trek to get to NYC from LA)

fellow w-listers, what is the general rhetoric of responses when you email the waitlist email? I have emailed cbs 3 times (to be put on the waitlist, to update them on my job scope, and announce i am planning to drop in). All the responses seem quite enthusiastic and somewhat "personal". For my visit they said they would welcome a visit but cannot promise an appointment, which is good since i just want to ask some pertinent questions and hopefully have them put a face on a name.

Perhaps its the waiting process that's getting to me, and im reading between the lines of general responses (i assume they have a pool of given responses to copy and paste).

Any insight?

also GO GIANTS! I was born in SF so rooting for my city!
