I wouldn't sweat this too much. My interviewer was also more hostile than I expected, but stonewalling applicants is part of the process. They want to make sure you've thought about your options, have well-researched goals and a reasonable plan. I will agree though that Darden's interview was the hardest I did. Other interviews were conducted by alumns, so there was more comradary and we spoke to each other like peers. But adcoms aren't afraid to stare into your soul. By the way, I was able to form a connection with my interviewer when I started talking about my extracurriculars and all the choral performances I do. She eventually told me she thought I was wise to choose the career path I did, and that was the end of the interview.

You say that you already have the Jefferson Scholarship? How is that possible? I thought you had to be nominated and then compete for the scholarship in March of 2015? If this is the case there is no guaranteed scholarship, and there is quite a bit of work between you and the possibility of getting the Jefferson Scholarship.

"Based on a screening of this material we will then select candidates to invite to a two-day visit to the Darden School and the Jefferson Scholars Foundation for interviews, seminars, speeches, and a banquet. This event will be held Thursday and Friday, November 20-21. Shortly thereafter we will award the fellowships." That's a quote from the Jefferson Fellowship email I received, so they actually have probably been given out. I wasn't selected, so I'm not sure, though.

Based on last year's thread, adcom calls admitted applicants one day prior to the official deadline. Tomorrow is the big day!

Oh, I see. I was looking at the timeline for the undergrad scholarships. Wow, congratulations guy, I would definitely keep that full ride plus a 20k stipend to Darden in my back pocket. It's hard to beat coming out of B-School debt-free. The financial pressure, even coming out of Harvard, can force you to take a high paying job you may not be interested in. Also if you are the entrepreneurial type, what if you started a business after Darden with all the money you would have spent at Harvard?
