For all those who had their interviews:

I have made a personal observation, although might be wrong. So please, share your experiences to prove/disprove my point.

The female interviewers are more intrusive and stick closely to interview protocol - they ask more detailed questions, take detailed notes, and stick to the formal interview more THAN the male interviewers. Male interviewers get overall impression and can easily get away with generic questions, and ask their own questions more - they are really trying to get to know the person rather than to stick to the protocol.

I had an interview with a female student last year, and a male student this year. The experiences were strikingly different....

You are in dire need of a statistics class - you can't draw a conclusion from your two experiences.

If you look back at others' interview experiences, what you will see is that almost all student interviewers (at least at Fuqua) "stick to the script" so to speak. So the advice for applicants is to look at the questions others are being asked and be prepared for those. I can tell you that I was interviewed by a male that was very by the book, so I don't think it's a true statement.

No, off-campus. Of cause, in some cases it's impossible to know the name and character of your interviewer beforehand. Anyway, thorough preparation is the best solution to all cases. :)

nope...its a telephonic interview and i have already contacted my interviewer to setup a mutually acceptable date and time...so thts how i know its female..

Just a few remarks:

1) Open interview season for the 2011 application cycle is over. Interviews are by invitation only.

2) Interviews are not gender, nationality, political orientation, time of the day or hair color of the applicant biased. Except for if your hair is blue that is an automatic ding.

3) On-campus interviewees will typically not know who they will interview with until they get to campus. This can be different for people interviewing over the phone as here special arrangements with the interviewer may need to be made.

You will only get dinged if your hair is baby blue. Royal blue will get you extra points, especially during the week when Duke plays UNC.

This Year duke is very strict about the dates so far...EA interview and final decision came on exact dates mentioned on the website and same in the case with R1 interview invitations .. So my money is on 31st Jan.

Yep!! But deep down Duke is the best fit for me :) So its hard to control the butterflies .... its a long long wait..

Hi , where did you find out that information? Feb 4th seems rather early, especially since the decisions are supposed to be released on March 25th.
Also, is there traditionally a single day for on campus interviews where they interview all candidates ? Or do they spread it across a few days. I would guess latter as it might not be logistically possible to interview that many people in a single day.

Does this refer to interview invitations going out by Feb. 4, or am I to understand that all interviews for R2 will conclude by Feb 4?

Hi

Count me in for R2 as well. Submitted my application in the nick of time on 5 Jan. The website says to expect interview invites by 5 Feb. Does anyone know from when they're going to be sent out?
