Anyone hearing anything about how the weather might impact this weekend's activities in Durham? Atlanta is totally shut down and I believe Durham experienced similar weather. I've got a non-refundable hotel reservation. I'll be driving to Durham, so hopefully the highways and surface streets will be cleared.

That is a great point...I am due into Durham Via Atlanta Thursday afternoon .. interview Friday morning, then burn and turn right back to Seattle....not a lot of margin for error...I wonder if they will allow a phone option if conditions do not improve?

I live in Durham, so I can give you the bird's eye view. We got mostly sleet and freezing rain rather than snow, so we've got a nice layer of ice all over. The roads were kind of sketchy this morning, but the forecast is for higher temps at the end of the week. I think you should be fine as far as driving. I'm not sure how this is affecting air travel into and out of RDU, though, and I can't speak for what Fuqua may or may not do about rescheduling.

Good luck!

Thanks for the info. I think we'll be fine, I just don't want anything to delay this process.

Open interviews are definitely over, maybe he's referring to applying next year?

One tip for everyone is to begin working on acquiring your immunization records. I figured that I would get it out of the way early and I've been trying to get mine for a few weeks now and it has proven difficult. We need them for Duke, but I assume all business schools will want a copy. I envy those of you who keep a copy lying around for these purposes.

Good luck to everyone waiting. Hopefully I'll see you at blue devil weekend.

You guys are fine. Those of us that have lived outside of the south keep wondering why such a big deal is being made of what is seriously nothing. Duke (undergrad) is holding classes tomorrow, and the weather is only supposed to get better, so it seems the overreactions are coming to an end :-D .

Also, talked to a friend in Atlanta that said things there are pretty much back to normal, so I think connecting airports are pretty safe as well.

Thanks for the insight, Highhopes. I'll be coming from Atlanta too, and the main roads will be absolutely fine by Friday. They are OK now. At night, the refreeze will make it slick, but that's the worst it's going to get.

Just spoke to a colleague in Charlotte and she said that's a bit icy now, but should be fine the rest of the week. Hopefully, I'll get to meet some of you this weekend. Looking forward to my trip. Good luck to all!

MBADAWG13, you wouldn't happen to be a University of Georgia grad, would you? What other schools are you applying to, if you don't mind me asking? I want to see how well the SEC is faring off the football field. *not to go too off topic*

Does anyone know when they will send the emails out saying that applications are complete? I submitted 1/5 and it still just says "submitted" on the application page. Does that change to complete at any point? Thanks guys!

This is what the Submission confirmation mail had said:

"Over the next several business days, the Office of Admissions will be matching your online application with supplemental materials (recommendations, test scores, etc.). Due to the volume of applications received, please allow at least three weeks after the application deadline for e-mail confirmation that your application is complete. If any required admission materials are missing, we will notify you at that time."

So last-week Jan sometime, I'd say.

within a few weeks, you will get an official confirmation from duke that your application along with all relevant documents has been received and what are the next steps forward in terms of interview decisions, etc.

dont worry...if by chance you fail to submit some document, the school will inform you of the same and will let you know how to submit it....

right now, relax....u need it...coz later on its gonna be heavy anticipation all the way... ;)

For all those who had their interviews:

I have made a personal observation, although might be wrong. So please, share your experiences to prove/disprove my point.

The female interviewers are more intrusive and stick closely to interview protocol - they ask more detailed questions, take detailed notes, and stick to the formal interview more THAN the male interviewers. Male interviewers get overall impression and can easily get away with generic questions, and ask their own questions more - they are really trying to get to know the person rather than to stick to the protocol.

I had an interview with a female student last year, and a male student this year. The experiences were strikingly different....

I think you are wrong. In fact, there are too many possibilities and personal features. It depends not only on gender, but also on nationality and other million personal characteristics.

I have a personal experience opposite to yours. The best way to know your interviewer beforehand is to contact with someone who knows him or her well.
