Also, does anybody know how big the waitlist pool usually is, and what percentage is lucky enough to get admitted later on?
So I'm a current Fuqua student and can tell you there are students who got invited to interview and dinged. When I was an applicant, the boards here estimated about a slightly better than 50 percent chance of admission if invited to interview. As you can imagine it's all speculative.
As for the waitlist pool, sorry there isn't a percentage admissions rate. Getting off of the waitlist is strictly a derivative of admissions yield, the degree of oversubscription (how many accepting offers compared to slots), and at this point 3rd round applicants. I can tell you that through the summer, Duke does not maintain a big waitlist so if you're given the opportunity to stay on it, recognize you're in the running.
@MBAfingerscrossed:
I am a R1 waitlisted applicant. I have read some people saying the official Facebook group of Fuqua Class 2013 number of members is a good measure of taken slots. I also read some people denying it because also Class of 2012 students join that group. The Class of 2013 fb group has now 429 members and the class size is 440. Are almost all the seats taken? Is there anyway to know how the available number of slots compare to the waitlist pool? The wait seems endless... and to think some have been on it since EA! thanks
Wow. That doesn't bode well for any R3 applicants or WL'ers. It's highly unlikely, but let's hope that around 100 of those members are from the 2012 class. It's probably closer to just 20-25, at the most... which means only around 30-35 slots are left to be filled.
What size would be a reasonable size of the waitlist pool? 50?100?150? Anybody with a ballpark figure? We have to add three faculty fb group adminis... so 33-38 slots? Tough!
