Is there a fellow waitlister who doesn't have a significant update (no big promotion or anything else major) to send through? If yes, what are you doing in terms of the letter to the adcom? I find myself in the position where I'm not quite sure what to send but also want to make sure that the adcom doesnt misunderstand my silence for my lack of interest in the program. Any tips?

You can send emails to [email protected]. A well written email will do. Duke is pretty open to receive update-recommendations. Send them as soon as you have them (the sooner the better). Make sure that the update is added to your file (they respond that they will add it).
best of luck

They have probably stopped posting here if such was the case, but does anybody know of any applicants, who were invited to interview and then dinged? I ask because all the posters, who were invited to interview, seem to have either only been admitted or waitlisted.

Also, does anybody know how big the waitlist pool usually is, and what percentage is lucky enough to get admitted later on?

So I'm a current Fuqua student and can tell you there are students who got invited to interview and dinged. When I was an applicant, the boards here estimated about a slightly better than 50 percent chance of admission if invited to interview. As you can imagine it's all speculative.

As for the waitlist pool, sorry there isn't a percentage admissions rate. Getting off of the waitlist is strictly a derivative of admissions yield, the degree of oversubscription (how many accepting offers compared to slots), and at this point 3rd round applicants. I can tell you that through the summer, Duke does not maintain a big waitlist so if you're given the opportunity to stay on it, recognize you're in the running.

I know that some are eventually dinged, but I have yet to see anybody here who was invited to interview and then dinged in the same round. At the very least, it appears that they get waitlisted prior to ultimately getting dinged.

I'm actually a 3rd round applicant. I interviewed in Durham this past week, and I feel really good about my interview. I connected well with my interviewer and we ended up going off-tangent a number of times, in a good way. However, it's only one component of the admissions process, so I cannot assume anything. Besides, I've heard people say that they thought their interviews went well, but still only got a waitlist decision.

I can't believe I have to wait 23 more days to find out if I'm even going to make it...

I am a R1 waitlisted applicant. I have read some people saying the official Facebook group of Fuqua Class 2013 number of members is a good measure of taken slots. I also read some people denying it because also Class of 2012 students join that group. The Class of 2013 fb group has now 429 members and the class size is 440. Are almost all the seats taken? Is there anyway to know how the available number of slots compare to the waitlist pool? The wait seems endless... and to think some have been on it since EA! thanks

I actually read the whole thread, but didn't see anybody explicitly say that they were invited to interview and then dinged in the same round. Then again, after reading through 100 pages, my eyes could have been playing tricks on me at that point.

Wow. That doesn't bode well for any R3 applicants or WL'ers. It's highly unlikely, but let's hope that around 100 of those members are from the 2012 class. It's probably closer to just 20-25, at the most... which means only around 30-35 slots are left to be filled.

What size would be a reasonable size of the waitlist pool? 50?100?150? Anybody with a ballpark figure? We have to add three faculty fb group adminis... so 33-38 slots? Tough!

The official Facebook group has a lot of current students too, so I'm not sure it's a complete indication of the number of slots that have got taken.

The facebook group contains current students and prospective students (both who will accept and who won't). I know you want to get some inclination about the size of the wait list but it's virtually impossible to do so, particularly from the facebook group. I can tell you we had Blue Devil Weekend this weekend and close to half the students I spoke with had to make a decision as to where they were going to go. I presume if they would fly out to visit our campus and others, then they would join a facebook group for those schools to learn more as well.

I would estimate that at least 10 people in my class were admitted off the wait list based on my discussions. Not sure if that's typical however.

Would those of you who attended Blue Devil Weekend please post about your experience. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to attend. Thanks in advance.
