There are many benefits to timing your practice, including:
Are any of the Rd. 1 applicants going through the background verification process? Which company do they use and do they check all your previous employers?
Anyone have insight if there's any benefit to going earlier vs later?

I don' think there is any benefit there, but I'd urge everyone to do their scheduling quick, if doing it at Durham. It seems like after you select your date/time, you have options to schedule a ton of other activities.
It seems most of the things are happening either on the 17th or the 24th. So I imagine those days will go really quick. So if you haven't been to Durham, I'd suggest acting soon before all the slots get filled up.

Yeap, I just scheduled whole day activities on the 20th.

R2 applicant here. I wonder how this works. I worked for my family's small nonprofit organization for two years in Asia. I don't know how they'll contact our organization, we don't even have a website. Are they just going to dial the number I have?
I'll be down from Thurs 23rd through Sat 25th. Now to figure out a hotel
Does anyone have recommendations on where to stay near Fuqua? Any place that has a shuttle to campus on the weekends so I won't need a car?

The Washington Duke Inn is a great option if you don't mind spending a little bit more. It's five minutes away from Breeden Hall if you walk, but you can also ask the hotel to drive you there. If you're a runner, there's an excellent 5k trail that goes around the hotel.
Has anybody interviewed with Steve Misuraca (on campus or hub cities or anywhere)? Would appreciate the opportunity to connect (asap) with him/her. Kindly respond.
Invited with an email at 5:17 EST. Does anyone know the % of invited interviewees to accepts (excluding open interview period)? Thanks,
Businessweek has those numbers, but I am not sure whether it includes the open interview period.
55% are interviewed, and 25% are accepted.
So it should be 25/55, which is around 45%
Thanks.

I interviewed during open interview period (OIP) and noted gmatclub #s before invites were sent - so take it for what it's forth. I think about 20% of total applicants at the time reported interviewing during OIP. NOTE: This included kids from EA round. That group probably drives that 55% up a bit, SO I would say if you got an interview invite, your acceptance chances are >45%. However, probably not that much more though.
Talked to the Adcom recently. for R1 admits (Congrats!), we should be getting a welcome package next week. If that package doesn't mention any merit scholarship info, then we can effectively say we aren't getting any scholarship, so for those of us still crossing our fingers for money, the package should let us know either way.

I booked the Courtyard Marriott near campus. I called the hotel and they mentioned that there is a shuttle available to/from campus. I also booked a rental car with Hertz -- it was really cheap with a discount code found on the website ($38 for two days). I think that'll end up being cheaper than taking a taxi or airport shuttle service to/from the airport.
