I live in the north-east, but did not get an opportunity to visit Sloan on a working day as work was too crazy. I did all my research online and by talking to students/alumni. I've already submitted my R1 app so I'm wondering if someone can tell me if

1) A school visit has significant bearing for MIT (especially since I live in the northeast)
2) If I visit the school right now, would that be considered or do me any good?

Thanks.

Actually, after change of plans I decided not to apply Rd1. Please move my name from Rd1 to Rd2.

Seems like its very quiet on MIT Sloan's thread. I'm curious to know if anyone has a good understanding of their unique scoring process. So, they score people on two main dimensions. But then, how exactly do they make admit decisions. Do they take the top 400 or so applicants and give them offers?

During my visit they said they receive about 5k applications, interview 1k, and extend admits to approximately half....

levfin2003 - how did you know they have a unique scoring process? I haven't heard anything like that. Can you please expand on that - what are the dimensions?

Here are some details on their scoring process. Also, check at some earlier posts on this forum that say the same thing.

Sloan looks at about nine attributes, including, for example, GMAT score, GPA, work success and leadership. The Admissions Committee divides the attributes into two major groups: demonstrated success (e.g., GPA, GMAT, work accomplishments) and leadership attributes (e.g., high competency in creativity, relationship building, goal setting, influencing). Each attribute group is scored separately, and the two scores are then added together.
