Hey N,

Thank you for all the awesome support on the forum. Btw, would you happen to know if the scholarships have been handed out yet ? Also, quick question .. How is the social life outside of classes at Yale for an SOM MBA Grad student ?

Thanks! I'm excited because it finally confirms that I will definitely be going to business school next year (just need to determine where). Good luck with your other schools!

Btw, would you happen to know if the scholarships have been handed out yet ? Also, quick question .. How is the social life outside of classes at Yale for an SOM MBA Grad student ?

1) Scholarships - last year some were awarded at the time of admit call and others were awarded later on. YSOM has various scholarships available to people from various backgrounds.

2) Social Life - Trust me, don't worry about this. You are gonna wish that you can clone yourself because there are way too many activities. In fact, your biggest issue will be "fear of missing out" on events due to committments to study group, info sessions, and other netowrking activities

3) What's to come? - various cocktail/networking events for admitted students throughout the country. Last year, admitted students were invited to alum hosted events. (i.e - dinner at an alum's mansion etc). Plus there will be the admitted student weekend....

I didn't make it. Thanks for the community support and feedback though, it has helped.

I was wondering if the deny letter is standard or worded suitably for different applicants?

Quote:
We spent a considerable amount of time considering your entire application and while we were suitably impressed by your accomplishments thus far, we regret that we are unable to offer you admission to the Class of 2012.

Congratulations to all those who got admitted.

I'm currently working on my essays and had a question I would like to opinions on. I'm working on my professional goals short answer essays but I'm on the fence about how to approach them. As for the immediate goals, I want to focus on entrepreneurship while at Yale SOM(if I were to get in) and in an ideal world I would be lead a startup in my 2nd year. If this startup went well obviously my immediate goal would be to make this new startup as successful as possible. Which I feel is a good main goal, my question is should I introduce a secondary goal along with this main goal? If the new startup does not work out my secondary goal would be to help a tech company bring a new product to market.

My long term aspirations are to get into venture capital as well as lead and organize nonprofit organizations that create and protect clean sources of drinking water for those who desperately need it, as in many African villages. These goals may or may not be done concurrently and are not strictly linked together. Is it good to include both in the long term section or is it better to concentrate on one detailed goal?

Entrepreneur here and run a nonprofit that does work in Africa. Also applying to R2. Maybe we'll meet up at Yale SOM and change the world.

As far as your questions. Who knows? It's always best to say what you want to say not what you think you should say.
