Sorry to hear about no fellowship, ibrokeit007. Your GMAT, GPA, and extracurriculars look good enough so it must have been something from your work exp, essays, and/or rec's that did not resonate with the ad-coms, in regards to the fellowship. Is your work experience lacking? Remember, schools have to bring in students who will be desirable to future employers and pre-MBA experience is a major component of how employers assess job candidates. An employer may question the judgment of a school that gives a fellowship to a student who has not sufficiently demonstrated their "employability" for lack of a better term.
Sometimes it's also just beyond raw #s - see this post from
Stacy Blackman about a guy who on paper seems like a shoo-in to H/S/W but was rejected by all. (

Best of luck, buddy, I'm sure you can still work out a great solution.
I did get into two Consortium schools without a fellowship. I am not sure if it was an interviewing mistake or a letter of recommendation. I feel that it could have been either/or.
I am also a career switcher. I was in corporate finances and then transition into consulting. At the time of the application, I had just started my new job. I am not sure what affected the fellowship decision, however I will enroll in a program regardless.
unfortunantly for me, I will end up with about 100K worth of loans, but i would rather do that now and get the MBA out of the way. I hate the application process and would hate having to go through it next year.
Thanks to all and I will see some of you in the near future. ( NYC, Wall Street, or in life).
It may just be the schools. Some seem to be more generous than others.
I did rank the two school that i got into last. I should have rank one of the safety school among my top 3. For future applicant lol. (rank your safety school among the top 3 it might increase your chances of gettting a fellowship.)
