Round 3 Interviews [#permalink]

New post 15 Apr 2015, 07:00
FROM HBS Admissions Blog: Round 3 Interviews
Greetings to all Round 3 applicants - here's the plan:

On Wednesday, April 22, we will send out both interview invitations and release notifications. We plan for this to be at 12:00 noon, ET. Therefore, all Round 3 applicants will be hearing something from us on that date.

Interviews will take place on campus on May 1 and May 4. Detailed instructions will be in the invitation. We will not be doing any interview travel this round.

2+2 applicants are strongly advised NOT to compromise their academic commitments in order to travel to HBS for the interview - we will arrange Skype interviews.

I think that's all the news there is!

And the heartbreak begins in less than 2 hours. Do you guys think a person dinged in round 3 can have a successful round 1 application?

don't be so negative, you're getting an interview ;)

And yes, apparently some R1 admits are always R3 re-applicants

It really makes a difference when you already got an offer from another top school otherwise many of us, me first, would have been freaking out right now.

Dinged. Good luck everyone.

Dear Applicant:
I’m sorry, but we are unable to offer you a place in the MBA Class of 2017.

Every year we receive roughly ten applications for every available spot in the class. While we are pleased that so many talented people want to be students here, the numbers make for many very difficult decisions. In all likelihood, you are a viable candidate with many strong attributes and accomplishments. Our challenge becomes not one of "evaluation," but of "selection." In order to deliver a class who brings as many different backgrounds and perspectives as possible, we must turn away many qualified candidates.

Thank you very much for your interest in the School; I wish you success and happiness as you go forward.

Sincerely,

Deirdre C. Leopold

Dinged.

Basically, the top schools should tell applicants that if you are anything short of amazing, you need not apply in the last round. So, unless you have played in a Super Bowl, cured an infectious disease, or won an Olympic medal, you have no shot at being admitted.
