Lets assume about 10,000 people are applying this year in 3 rounds! lets assume 500 more applicants from last year to account for application growth and for easier calculations. 4500 in R1, 4800 in R2, and 700 in R3.
If 1150 people are being considered in R1, this basically means roughly 1 in every 4 applicants is being considered for a spot at the school. WOW!!
and I could be completely wrong here, historically significantly more people have applied in R2 than R1, so the number of people applying in R1 could be as low as 4000 or even 3800. The odds are in favor of you R1 guys.
Good luck for tomorrow guys!!!
Hopefully it's a lot less since the deadline was so early.

I'd argue it's much less. If I were to guess, HBS R1 applicants this past month barely topped 3,000. The problem is the application pool was potentially the strongest of all the rounds (can be deduced from Dee's words and WL bump from 100-150 to 200). Only the most motivated applicants would submit the application that early.
