i’ve been looking at people admission table at the hec forum and I gotta be honest some people got very good gmat (superior to 750) and decent gpa (3+) and they didnt even get an interview and it scares me a little does anyone knows why that could happen ?
It can be unsettling to see applicants with impressive GMAT scores and strong GPAs not getting interview invitations, but this might happen for several reasons. Adcoms take a holistic approach, considering not just academic performance but also factors like work experience, leadership potential, essays, letters of recommendation, and fit with the program. Even if someone has stellar test scores, they may not stand out if their work experience is lacking, their goals aren’t clearly defined, or they don’t demonstrate a strong alignment with the program’s values. Additionally, schools may see an overrepresentation of certain profiles, such as candidates from finance or consulting with high GMAT scores, and may prioritize diversity or unique experiences. The key is to ensure that your entire application package reflects who you are as a candidate, showcasing your leadership, personal story, and clear career vision.
