Hello,
I have a doubt. My (IEM(Indian, Engg., Male)) profile history is as follows:

YoE - 9 (by the time application starts)
Role - Data Scientist (currently), SAP Consultant (previously)

GMAT - Targeting ~675 (Trying higher but this is as per HEC Adcom I talked to)

Masters - MS (3.6 / 4)
Bachelors - B.E (8.4 / 10)

Post MBA Career - Product Management, leveraging my analytics BG, in Europe.

I am not sure if 10th and 12th matter.

Kindly be critical, and let me know if this is feasible profile for HEC.

jaegarbong - some more details can help assess your profile better:

- Which were your undergrad and masters universities?
- Which companies have you worked in, have there been progressions/ promotions, key achievements in the roles, etc.?
- Any extracurricular activities worth highlighting?

Your work-ex (9 years) is a bit on the higher side, but I've worked with candidates around this number who have made it to HEC. The 'why MBA', 'why HEC' and career goals need to be robust.

Target GMAT score seems about alright for HEC.

Hi jaegarbong,

HEC Paris was very competitive last year; thus, you must do whatever you can to set yourself from the overrepresented pool you belong to. One way is to boost your GMAT score further if you can.

While the career goals are aligned with your experience as well as the strengths of the school, your years of experience are on the higher side; hence, please be sure to address why you are going ahead with an MBA at this time point.

Hope this helps.

All the best!

jaegarbong,
You may have your reasons to restrict yourself to only HEC, but while focus can be good, keeping all your eggs in one basket is not prudent.

As for HEC, the ~675 may put you in just about an average league with your applicant pool. As such, your other applicantion components (resume, goal clarity, LORs, ECs, and of course your essays and stories must standout, and that is to merely INCREASE your chances of admission. Other parts of your profile that you should also consider in assessing your current chances (assuming everything else remains the same) would be your college & employer brands.

As someone has already said earlier, the more your individual components can stand you out, the more your narrative is compelling and the stronger the projection of the unified theme you can present, the higher would be your chances, both at admissions, and at scholarship.

Hope that helps.

Hi, I want to consider HEC in my top priority list for MBA, mostly due to the opportunities it can provide for my aspired field of work. But, I have several doubts on where my profile holds. So, I have:
10th – 10 CGPA
12th – 83.2% (Non-medical stream; scored 100 in one subject)
Bachelor’s in Fashion Design from a Tier-1 Design College – 7.7 CGPA
Secured an All India Rank of 120 in the national entrance exam for my undergraduate program.
Previously dropped out of an engineering college (educational gap). Also hold a diploma in Interior Design and have completed a few relevant certification courses.

Work experience includes:
– 9 months at a well-reputed fashion brand, where I successfully completed a collection; clientele included several celebrities
– 3 months at another popular brand (let go due to internal reasons beyond performance)
– 4 months at a third respected brand, where I again contributed to a completed collection; clientele included Sheikha Dana Al Khalifa, Princess of Bahrain
– Currently working in the family business for the past 8 months

The transitions between roles were driven by internal restructuring, creative misalignment, and a conscious search for long-term professional direction.

I’m yet to take the GMAT and am currently preparing for it, aiming to score well.
