Hi All,

Opening a new thread for all applicants for the combined 'Class of 2021'. This will include the September 2020 intake and January 2021 intake.

I am a current IE IMBA student and am happy with my decision and enjoying the classes here in Madrid. I will be keeping in touch with this board to answer any questions and keep in touch with this community that helped me through my admissions process.

JMM

Such serendipity! Swear to God yesterday. I was trying to remember your name so I could look you up on LinkedIn. I wanted to find out how you like the program there. And ironically right before reading this, I read an email from a former client friend who is from Shanghai but right now visiting Madrid and sent pictures. Cosmic.

Would be great if you could provide a little bit more detail about your experience there, what your focus is, your take on the entrepreneurial emphasis there. And anything else you think others should know but might not be on the website or easily noticed on the outside.

Hi all,

I am an IE MBA applicant for Sept 2020 intake. Although I have a solid GPA, my GRE score was low. When I submitted my application on Jan 31st and was told I needed to retake the GRE or take the IEgat or GMAT. I just took the IEgat this Friday (Feb 14th). Does anyone know how long it usually take for them to get back to you letting you know how you did? I am asking because I would like to know if my score was sufficient to move on to the next round before deciding to retake the GRE or GMAT.

Hi,

Thanks for opening this thread. I've been admitted for the Sep 20 intake.

I need help in two aspects to make my decision -

1. Job prospects post MBA - Bit clarity regarding the post study visa/ work permit

2. Financing - Apart from scholarships what other financing options can I get? How are the loans facilitated by IE?

It'll be immensely helpful if anybody can guide me through these points.

Yes, this is the right time. IE has rolling admissions policy. If you are looking for financial aid, the sooner the better.
I got admitted to IMBA Jan 21 intake.

Hi 2007varun,

1. The job prospects are really dependent on where you want to live, your grasp of the language, and how the market will look when you are graduating. As a current student, I see good prospects right now and lots of companies visiting and advertising jobs through our careers department. I do not see that many opportunities that advertise visa assistance, but do not expect that too much. I (and many other students) also believe the careers department is here to assist the students, but not necessarily to find each of them a job, but to give them the training, tools, opportunities, etc. to land a good position.

2. IE does have a couple of programs with local banks for financing, but these need to be researched by you further, as they come with stipulations depending on your nationality. We have been discussing with IE Leadership about this lately, since the decision by IE to stop working with a 'well known' MBA loan provider. IE is evaluating other options to future students, but I encourage you to look at a wider range of options right now.

Good Luck!

JMM

Hi MBAPrepCoach,

Sorry for the delay, I just went through mid-term exams and have quite a few group projects ongoing right now.
I am really enjoying the program here, and enjoying Madrid. The classes, professors, community, leadership, etc. are all very challenging and supportive. The vibe within the program is very engaging and forward-thinking.
The entrepreneurial emphasis is noticeable throughout the program, and throughout the student body. I am constantly surrounded by student entrepreneurs, alumni entrepreneurs (many local businesses, apps, restaurants, etc), innovative initiatives, and/or start-up/entrepreneurial challenges (like weekly club meetings with pitch presentations or practice).
I know there is a lot of discussion around the drop in rankings, and believe me it is discussed widely here as well. However, there is a lot of positive momentum on campus and once we learned more about the ranking process, it is much less concerning. Briefly, the rankings process uses surveys from students that graduated three years ago - IE has gone through many changes through the past 3-6 years. The current leadership for the MBA programs has been rebuilt throughout the past 1-3 years, which means we are operating under different leadership than the surveyed group experienced. The new leadership has worked hard over the past couple of years to guide the direction of the program positively. There are many more small changes being made to help the rankings recover to expected levels. Additionally, this has not really effected companies recruiting here and on the other hand, the leadership has been growing alliances with more companies for recruiting.
Hope this little bit of insight helps, and let me know if there are any other specific questions that I can help to answer.

JMM

Hello Experts,

I need a desperate suggestion regarding my profile before i consider myself for a candidate for JAN 21 intake.

1> I have taken my GMAT already in Nov 2019. I scored a dismal 650 (Q 49, V 28, IR 5, AWA 5.5).
2>STD 10- 91% (2006), STD 12 - 86%(2008) (state board)- For both these cases, as i was among the top most %ile rank holders, i received scholarship from the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Govt. of India.
--Represented school Soccer team & participated in different debate competitions.
3>B. tech in Electronics and communication Engineering from one of the top engineering college(Institute of Engineering & Management) with a 9.01/10 GPA (scaled GPA 4.0) in the year 2012
--Part of college student council that represented various college activities. Student co-ordinator for College events.
4>Placed in 4 different MNCs after my Undergrad degree.
5> Joined leading Telecomm. service provider in their Global services operations in India as a Engineering trainee on 2012, working for last 7 years.
6>Promoted twice in the meantime, currently working as a Senior Network Engineer.
7> Worked for multiple telecomm operators around the globe, giant names of Africa, US & Europian operators are among them.
8>Internation exposure in Zambia, Africa for couple of months and i was a part of the team who was engaged in commercial launch of a brand new Telecommunication technology there with cross domain interactions with the customer.
9> Also I was in Dusseldorf, Germany in 2018 for sometime as a specialist working for a new project. Leading a team of 10~20 people with constant customer interactions.
10> Part of technical recruitment team of my organization.
11> Part of cultural & brand awarness team in my organization.
12> Multiple key performance award winner for outstanding delivery efforts.
13> Team member for automation & cost-saving programmes in my organization.

I know i represent an over-represented Indian male demographic, but i truely eager to know if i stand any chance for a IE admission.
Your kind suggestions & feedbacks are really appreciated.

Thanks

Hi All,

I have applied to the IE international MBA around the end of Jan 2020 for Jan 2021 intake. I have not received any communication after that. Any idea, how long generally it takes to get the response.

Even I applied at the end of Jan and got an interview scheduled on 14th Feb and within a week an admit for Jan 21 intake. I suggest talking to Juan or the Indian admission team.

When applying, it is very important to keep in contact with the admissions team. You should have a rep that is assigned (usually based on region), that you should keep updated about your process. Get in contact with that person, as mentioned above and see what the issue is.
