What sample size is this observation based on ?

There is no point in conducting an interview that already has an extempore and then ending it in 10 minutes.

Inside the interview room, 10 mins is NOTHING, that too combined with extempore

I guess this won’t be the case for everyone, only few people might have had 10-15 mins interview

In case my experience helps anyone -
I appeared in R1. My interview was 12 mins. 3-4 mins extempore and then just 2-3 questions that's it. Questions were only on why MBA and why not continue what you are doing, that's it. No grilling as such.

Result: I was waitlisted. (meanwhile converted at and joining ISB)

I would rather suggest that people be ready for it instead of thinking it won’t happen to me.

I hope it doesn’t happen to those who don’t want it to happen to them though 🙂
